Former AG to key 1MDB investigators: Less talk, more work

(MMO) – Former Attorney-General (AG) Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman told officials leading investigations into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and others to concentrate on their tasks and avoid public exposés.

He was responding to reporters seeking his comment about new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull’s shocking claims in a tell-all press conference yesterday.

“My personal view is that the less public statements made the better, because they may (impose) prejudice (on the) investigations.

“Any court proceedings should there be any, should be ‘less talk, more work’,” he told reporters when met at Ilham Tower lobby today.

Abu Talib, who is on the five-man committee examining 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issues, said they are coordinating functions between relevant agencies to avoid overlaps.

It is believed that he had earlier attended a meeting with members of another special task force created to probe into 1MDB.

Abu Talib refused to divulge details of said meeting, adding that the taskforce was supposed to report to the committee in the near future.

Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh appealed similarly to Shukri this morning, saying his scandalous claims could jeopardise the investigation and subsequent prosecution of those involved in the 1MDB corruption scandal.
