Report: Eight safes in Seri Perdana cracked open but no money inside

(MMO) – The eight safes found inside the prime minister’s official residence at Seri Perdana in Putrajaya were opened early yesterday by police investigating Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

A source told Sinar Harian that the safes were opened by two locksmiths, but no items or monies were found in any of the eight.

“The operations began since yesterday (Friday) evening until 3am this morning (yesterday),” the source said when contacted by the local daily.

The source said police were also focusing their search in other locations in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, and Kajang, but did not elaborate further on the owners of the homes or premises to be searched.

“Investigations are ongoing and the process may take a long duration,” said the source.

On Friday, the report had reported that two locksmiths had successfully opened the safe in Najib’s home in Jalan Langgak Duta, Jalan Duta, and were tasked to open the eight safes in Putrajaya.

A special police task force investigating 1Malaysia Development Bhd, Najib’s brainchild, has searched at least six locations including Seri Perdana, the former PM’s mansion in Taman Duta and several units at the Pavilion Residences linked to him.
