DAP and not PKR decides cabinet posts

(The Star) –  Another DAP candidate has been promised a Cabinet post if Pakatan Harapan forms the next federal government.

Sarawak DAP’s Stampin candidate Chong Chieng Jen will be given a Cabinet position if he wins and Pakatan Harapan captures Putrajaya in GE14.

This was announced by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng at a ceramah at a food court here on Sunday (April 29).

“If we can win power in Putrajaya, we want representatives from Sabah and Sarawak in the Cabinet.

“If Chong is elected MP for Stampin and we win Putrajaya, as DAP secretary-general I will recommend to Pakatan chairman Tun Mahathir (Mohamad) that Chong be appointed a Cabinet minister,” he said.

Chong is the third DAP candidate to have been promised a Cabinet position if Pakatan wins Putrajaya, as Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming and Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong were candidates for Cabinet minister posts if they won the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat in Perak and the Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat in Johor.

The state DAP chairman is facing Sarawak United People’s Party president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian in a straight fight in Stampin.

Lim also said Pakatan could win on May 9 but needed the support of Sarawak voters.

“To win, we are not talking about peninsular Malaysia or Sabah. I feel Pakatan and Warisan can win Sabah and the Malays are ready to support Pakatan in the peninsula.

“Now we need to ask for help from Sarawak,” he said.

Sarawak has the biggest number of parliamentary seats at 31. In GE13 Barisan took 25 seats, DAP five and PKR one.

Chong and DAP’s Bandar Kuching candidate Kelvin Yii also spoke at the rally.
