Arul Kanda: 1MDB targeted as Opposition has nothing to criticise Government for

(The Star) – 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) remains a target for the Opposition because they have run out of things to criticise the Government for, says Arul Kanda Kandasamy (pic).

Speaking at a talk here on Sunday (March 18), the 1MDB chief executive officer said the Government had run the country well.

“The Government has improved the economy and created job opportunities. They cannot oppose Government policies so they have nothing else,” he said during a question and answer session.

“The 1MDB issue is old but irresponsible people continue to play it up,” he added.

Arul Kanda also said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak continued to be linked with 1MDB because of his former position as the chairman of its advisory board.

“His only power is to advise. And because he is on the board, the Opposition said he is responsible,” he said, adding that Najib did not have any executive power.

Arul Kanda also urged the people not to speculate on the US Department of Justice (DoJ) civil suit against them, which was been filed in 2016.

“There have been no proceedings, defence or decisions yet. They have also recently requested the courts to postpone the case for another six months,” he said.
