“Selangor Residents Say Pakatan Harapan Lied And Continues To Lie”

(MMO) – Political analyst Lim Sian See (LSS) shared the following letter published in Malay Mail about a reader expressing anger over the Selangor government’s role in the controversial DASH highway project.

‘Selangor residents say Pakatan Harapan lied and continues to lie’, LSS captioned the following link posted on Twitter.

FEB 28 — THE Damansara Shah Alam Highway (DASH) came back into the social media limelight recently when it was highlighted that three of the six new toll booths in the Klang Valley would be located on this highway.

This drew much public ire and as expected, Pakatan Harapan supporters are saying that the highway project was approved by Barisan Nasional and that all blame should be directed towards BN.

As the committee that fought against the portion of the highway’s alignment from going through Damansara Perdana tooth and nail, we would like to correct this false narrative and reiterate the fact that Pakatan Harapan LIED and CONTINUES TO LIE about their involvement and collusion in approving this project.

Permission Denied

No Federal government approved project can happen in Selangor without expressed written approval from Pakatan Harapan. Proof of this is in the cancellation of the Kinrara Damansara Expressway (KIDEX) on 15 Feb 2015.

In cancelling the project, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the reasons for the project’s cancellation was due to the failure of KIDEX in fulfilling the following conditions set by the Selangor government:

The need to show users and residents of involved areas the clear benefits or possible negative effects of the expressway

Revealing the toll rates throughout the concession period including any rise in any toll rates set in the concession, and the estimated rate of toll collection and the rate of return to investment.

Revealing the full concession agreement to keep in line with Pakatan Rakyat’s policy of integrity, accountability and responsibility.

These were the words from Azmin’s press statement. It was further mentioned that all other highways would be subjected to the same conditions. And just in case anyone wants to refute that Azmin ever said it, here’s the video of him SAYING IT.

We would like to point out that the Federal government has never challenged the cancellation once KIDEX was officially rejected by the Selangor government.

Permission granted

While the Selangor government demonstrated that they had the power and authority to tell the Federal government ‘No’ for KIDEX, the situation was very different when it came to DASH. The Selangor government through our own elected representative ADUN Bukit Lanjan Elizabeth Wong and Azmin kept repeating the lie that DASH had not been granted approval from 2015 till April 2017.

But behind our backs, the Selangor government issued land acquisition notices in early 2016 and amended the Petaling Jaya Local Plan 2 to include the DASH highway in December 2016, thereby giving final approval to the project to proceed.

When did DASH reveal their toll rates and concession agreement that Azmin said would be part of the standard for all highways to be approved by the Selangor government? Policy of integrity, accountability and responsibility indeed.

Pakatan 100 per cent responsible

No doubt BN played a role in the highway’s approval, but we blame Pakatan completely because of how they continuously lie to the public. The lie about having no power to stop a Federal project was but the first of many.

Remember how Azmin Ali was still repeating the story that the Selangor government had not approved DASH in April 2017? When former Selangor MB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim asked about the updates to the highways a year before on April 2016, the official response at the Selangor State Assembly was that the Selangor government approved DASH in 2 May 2012.

And just to show how disgusted we are of our ADUN Elizabeth Wong, you can watch this YouTube video

from 14 Apr 2012 where she told us residents that the Selangor government had not approved the

DASH highway, just TWO WEEKS BEFORE the Selangor government APPROVED DASH on 2 May 2012:

As voters, we will not forget how Pakatan convinced us to give them the mandate to govern and bring about change but chose instead to squander that mandate by repeatedly lying to the public about their involvement in the project’s approval. In this, Pakatan has proven that they are incapable of bringing change and are not worthy of a chance to rule the country.
