Corruption is like the music of the sirens that enthralls you so much that you will never want to let it stop. For years and years, our government has become a well lubricated network of corridors for channeling public funds to undeserving people.

While the giver and the taker stand to gain from this marriage on convenience, the people of Malaysia are the losers at the end.

There is NO WAY corruption can be eliminated by efforts WITHIN the 'corporation' itself. Every Prime Minister that came into power promised to rid his administration off corruption and yet the situation has become worse every year. No one wants to get incriminated by exposing corruption within their organization especially if one is deeply involved. The corporation is akin to a brotherhood of greed and to scream out corruption is like drawing out a double edged sword.

Even the Anti Corruption Agency is under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Department. It doesn't take a genius to know that the agency's independence and freedom to investigate the government is restricted. After all, which dog is stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds it?

The only way to get rid of corruption is to have a sea change in the government. The political tsunami that swept through the nation last March is starting to uncover some dirty linen in Penang and Selangor.

Yes, Corruption, that is the exact reason why we malaysia today are rank so low in term of Per Capita Income, as compared to Singapore and Hong Kong, and those western countries in Europe. Malaysia is rank about middle of no where, the per capita income of us$5,000. as compared to Singapore and HK, they are rank about top 20 in the world, and their PCI is us$30,000. i.e. we Malaysia are about 5x or 6x less than them.
what a shame to malaysian, all mainly due to the Umno/BN corruption in malaysia.
The Dr M, Paklah, they are the champion of all corruption. They rob our rakyats money, given to the cronies and their relatives.
The problem is even they are so corrupt, malaysian is so naive and stupid to vote for them for so many elections, because the Malaysian are 'Kia See", afraid to die, fear of dying, shit, what a shame ? That why malaysian are poor compared to Singapore and HK, rakyats are fears, live in fears, if you live in fear, you will be poor, if not, you will not be poor, you will be so much better, so, luckily, Malaysian, quite a few voted against the BN, voted for the opposition, Pakatan Rakyat, syabas. see what we got? we got a little of respect, we are now, telling the politician, if you are not perform, we will change you, you have got 4 years or 5 years; so, we are the new voters, that not afraid, and no more fear, we vote for the better, good politician, we will vote you out, if you dont perform.

So, we all, please, vote for change, if they dont perform, so that we have a new beginning, new vision, new frontier, new future, new way, new system, no more corruption,
Umno = BN = Corruption, Arrogant, Greedy, CAG, we must get rid of them, we must change for better government, change for better, must have the ball, the courage to change !! no pain no gain, any pain ? face the challenge, change, change, change, give them hell, if they corrupt, rob the rakyat's money ! we must show them, we are the boss !

The 1.1 million 'little napoleans' are fed by the employers of last resort, the BN government. They are being sucked into this BN's working culture and sub-cultures as well.

It is a huge and gigantic boulder and it will be a gargantuan task for PR government in waiting NOT for the purpose of removing this boulder but to chisel off the crooked and dented ones.

It ain't an easy task. But is not an impossible feat.

Corruption NEP (Emphasis on Redistribution of Wealth rather than Creation of NEW WEALTH - Easier for UMNO Dynasties to steal in the name of Rakyat than to work for it) = DISASTER!

Some FACTS - see link for data source

GDP Per Capita Singapore (those rotten guys down under!)$USD 49,700 (RM162,096)
GDP Per Capita - MM's Golden Age of Malaysia $USD 13,300 [43,378]
No wonder MM has to demonize them in case Rakyat realize how far we had fallen behind them.

Now who is the TUAN in the EYES of the world - the GUY earning $RM3,615 a month or the guy earning $RM13,508 a month or the little UMNO PAWN.

MM believe that he is one of those Great Emperors of old - Alexander, Napoleon, Czars - that's why all those white elephant projects - good thing AAB stopped them before we go broke! Look at the SAGA, The Singapore bridge instead of a 2nd Penang bridge sooner rather than later, MSC does not = an invention! or creates invention - we could have achieved more with the wasted "MSC construction" funds.

He would rather we compare our selves with Indonesia and Philippines rather than Singapore our Cousin!

What a courageous and sharp cutting article. Kudos to the author. He has accurately observed how great the problem really is in terms of habit of corruption in the civil service. Which single civil servant is totally clean? Just look at these as examples:

1) Teachers do not teach properly simply because they can give tuition
2) Headmasters come up weird schemes to buy all kinds of unnecessary workbooks just so that they can pick up commissions ( and children now need to bring 2 schoolbags to school. Anyone needs a photo to prove it, just post a request here)
3) Postmen scan and search thru mails just to see if they can pick up a one with something valueble in it.
4) Every enforcement unit personnel create ways and means to harass a shopkeeper or hawker for a few bucks to line his own pocket
5) Policemen hide around road bends and behind trees for you know what
6) Every little napoleon who has a hand in licensing needs a little grease to move files up
7) Immigrant workers dread seeing uniformed personnel by the ro***ides or when they come knocking
smilies/cool.gif Even the lowly office boy has developed the talent for locating otherwise "missing files"
9) The firemen rushes up a burning business building ( and they love burning supermarkets )to first locate the safe for themselves, or to stash valubles into their jackets
10)Nurses and hospital workers become agents for milk powder companies, and business informants for undertakers and "loyar buruks"
11) Religious department enforcers go round hunting down courting couples to earn extra cash to feed their own babies, or just to save some prostitution fees

The list goes on and on.

The Hongkong civil service up till the late 70's was the epitome of corruption where the firemen saves as much of the building as he is thinks the property owner has paid for its worth.

UMNO's brand of Islam has bred a corrupt "Islamic" nation. Like I always say ... how many of our politicians, including the Islam Hadhari founder is willing to swear publicly on his koran that he is clean?

I agree with Mr. Edmond ‘s statement that Malaysia is a paradise on earth and a truly blessed country by GOD. But little did we notice that our surrounding neighbours are advancing further beyond expectations.

Thailand for instance has gained very much in agricultural and manufacturing sectors, many big corporations whom used to operate gigantic factories here, have now opened even bigger factories In Thailand. The prime reason for them to leave Malaysia is because of corruption (indirectly). Many knows that most of the factories here hire foreign workers from Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Myanmar and Vietnam, but did you know how much corruption involved to get the workers here. I personally have witnessed corruption happening in 4th floor of our immigration head quarters in Putrajaya.

Agents here collect a big sum prom agents of the workers origin, in 2007 I was reliably informed that the person who signs the approval for Bangladesh workers collects RM 800 per head, means lets say a factory wants to hire 100 workers, the cost of getting it signed is RM 800 x 100 = RM 80,000. Just imagine in 2007 / 2008 we had almost around 230,000 workers from Bangladesh arrived here, not only for the approval the need to bribe, Approval, calling visa, stamping and even airport clearance. So technically the growth manufacturing industry in Malaysia is brought down by corruption in the immigration.

Now, lets see another example :-

A clear evidence of a growing country / successful country has to have a very good public infrastructure, excellent public transportation system, cheap and reliable telecommunication and cheaper cost of living. And I very much admire and my sincere salute for Singapore for having all the above mentioned characteristics.

Malaysia, it looks like its going up, but eventually its going down, because our so called 1.5 million civil servants is considered Lazy & Bodoh, that’s whats best suits to call our Government including the man on the top – PAK LAH. He is an example leader who had tough his so called 1.5 million employees how to sleep during work hours.

Our transportation system, which during the last fuel price hike earlier than this, Pak lah promised to upgrade our public transportation system in which his cronies and relatives ripped off RM 4 billion from our hard earned money. Scomi a company owned by Pak Lah’s son had exclusivity to supply busses, and they have bribed many counterparts to get their job going smooth. And Pak Lah lied, he did not upgrade our bus stations, lrt stations and by all means he has done nothing but other than bring us down.

Improving public transportation does not stand for buying new busses alone Mr. Pak Lah, you must know that the RAKYAT is suffering daily and you are one of the reason for it, a good leader means, a leader who cares for the RAKYAT not RIP OFF the RAKYAT.
Folks, If I continue writing further on this it would go beyond a comment. So that’s it for now.

The first stop to stop the rot is to acknowledge the giver & the receiver, race need not be mentioned as it is a known fact from the entry point into the country till the administration the whole system stinks!!!!

The recent PAS youth activity to protest on the choice of artist for a football fiesta seems like an irreverent exercise, PLEASE HAVE YOUR BOYS WATCH OVER ENTERTAINMENT OUTLETS AND HOTEL LOBBIES to really see the extent of NEGOTIATIONS and trade off that take place.

Start here and we all will definitely have a higher image on PAS mentality towards a UNITED Malaysia.... ah if you see RPK there in any clubs with a cigar please NOTE HE IS DOING HIS SNOOPING FOR THE NEXT STORY okay so don't go over board!!!!

One of the major contributors to Msia's corruption problem is the NEP's preferential and unfair practices of BN regime. Intelligent people disadvantaged by the system have to find ways to get ahead. Endemic corruption is the end result.

The official per capita income figures are outright fititious and certainly do not reflect the opulent lifestyles being arrogantly displayed by so many Msians. Just look at all the expensive cars on our streets.

The first critical step to rid corruption is to change the regime. Let's hope it's not too late.

It is imperative & urgent the need for change of gov't to stem the haemorraging of Malaysia's wealth thru' corruption activities, Bolehland needs to get rid of the current he*** of ACA, PDRM & Attorney-Gen offices immediately. We need to be serious abt an independent Judiciary & independent Securities Commission.

The "lallang" growth is so widespread & so deeply embedded in the soil, the lallang killers will have to be armed & ready in case the lallang retaliated with brute force & bloodshed.

So even as PR takes over, the rakyat must ensure PR is a government in power on the strong support of the masses. This massive support is to ensure it will not be easily toppled.

One way to ensure more support for PR is to educate everyone with facts & figures on decades of rampant corruption by the BN govt. So we need to have more corruption articles & letters posted here, to keep reminding people, this corruption way of governing Malaysia from TDM's days to AAB & his SIL must stop & the only way to do so, is to get rid of this Umno-led Bn govt once and for all.

This effort to get more people "educated" must be done on an overkill basis - although we all eat the same rice, but there are some really STUPID jackasses in our midst who will continue to support bn.

ACA investigate corruption cases by optional not by compulsory. They will take action promptly for those cases who against BN, as cases involved by BN will nanti-nanti!! later will give many excuses that evidents not enough, not in procedures etc!! Because ACA is controlled by BN. Not fair lah!!!

As rightly pointed out by the writer, for this country to have any chance of ridding itself of the level of corruption that it has gone through for the past 30 years, and is still going through everyday of the week now; there need to a sea change in the politics of this country.

As part and parcel of the sea change needed, first and foremost the ruling government for the past 50 years MUST be changed, for any chance of success at all.For the current level of corruption is directly a result of its policies and practices. The recent election result has not change an iota of its thinking. In fact it only seems to have accelerated its attempts to milk all it can before time runs out for them.BN has absolutely and resolutely failed, for the past 30 years, and is still failing to effect any change in its corrupt practices.I do not,for a minute believe that it actually wishes to; other than to make endless promises to do so.These same self serving promises has been made again and again for the last 30 years, to what result?

And, if we, as the rakyat, and at the same time victims of such corruption and empty promises, do not take it upon ourselves to make those changes, and continue to put our trust, belief, fate and future with BN, as we have done for the past 5 decades, then we do deserve the government that we have.
