Mukhriz Mahathir To Remain In Umno, Not Leaving Party Like His Father

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) -- Umno Youth Executive Council Member Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said Tuesday he would not quit Umno like his father, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Mukhriz, who is the Member of Parliament for Jerlun, said he shared his father's view that Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should step down immediately as Umno president and prime minister "to save Umno".

"I will remain a loyal Umno member and will speak up against the shortcomings of the party leadership," he told reporters at a hotel here.

Mukhriz said he understood and agreed with the move by his father to quit the party because he had lost confidence in Abdullah's leadership and wanted to save Umno.

He said the Umno Supreme Council should open up as wide as possible the avenue for democracy for Umno members to voice their opinions, including through extraordinary general meetings.

Mukhriz said the Umno Supreme Council should not prohibit any leader or member from undertaking anything for the good of the party so long as it was in accordance with the democratic principles enshrined in the party constitution.

Flanked by a group of supporters, many of whom were Umno Youth grassroots leaders, Mukhriz, clad in white baju Melayu, said he would continue to call for Abdullah's resignation and believed that he had the support of many quarters.

He denied that this was a strategy to garner support to contest the post of Umno Youth chief which would be vacated by Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein in December.

Elaborating on his stand to remain in Umno, Mukhriz said he had not discussed the matter with Dr Mahathir but acknowledged that his father was a little disappointed with his (Mukhriz's) decision.

"However, our main objective is the same, which is to save the party," he said.

Asked whether he had coaxed Dr Mahathir to remain in Umno, Mukhriz said he had not done so because he knew that his father might not change his mind.

Dr Mahathir, who is a life member with Membership No. 1, announced in Alor Star, Kedah, Monday that he was quitting Umno with immediate effect because he had lost confidence in Abdullah's leadership and that he would only return to the party when Abdullah had resigned as Umno president.

Dr Mahathir's wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, who holds Membership No. 2, is also reported to have quit the party.

Asked whether his father's decision to quit would lead to chaos in Umno, he said: "As far as I am concerned, our Umno is in chaos."

Mukhriz rejected claims that Dr Mahathir's quit decision was linked to a Cabinet directive for the attorney-general to begin investigations on the allegations against the individuals (including Dr Mahathir) named in the report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Datuk V.K. Lingam video clip.

So the son is hedging his bets eh? TDM's quit decision is his most re-active thus far and it shows that his mind-set is under huge pressure. I think he has just checkmate himself. TDM, you are the weakest link.

Good sons do not listen to mad fathers. The old man is mad and the son knows it. If he listens to his father, he will be found dead in the gutters like Ghandi's son. Ghandi. though a respected leader, ruined the son's life by getting the son involved in a fight in which the son was not intersted.

Any way the latest news is that Tun Mamak is founding a new Party - UMNO Melayu Chelup.

This may well be a strategic plot. His father's gamble apparently isnt bearing fruit, and since it is a resignation, the father would have lost all powers. Now, the son would HAVE to remain in the party to be heard, or else the family would have lost TOTAL power. This family is smart, very smart...

"I will remain a loyal Umno member and will speak up against the shortcomings of the party leadership," he told reporters at a hotel here.

Well, he's probably too dumb to understand what he has done. He is in effect saying TDM is/was a disloyal UMNO member... He is talking the wind out of his father's sail...

Dear UMNO MP,

If the Father tell the son Muhkriz leave UMNO, & he does not agree,

I do not see any reason, why a elected UMNO MP or UMNO member should leave just becasue Mamakthir sayso.

UMNO MPs & UMNO members must be really BODOH to listen to Mamakthir & his Indian monkey brain.

Of course he will not leave Umno.
His father needs him to confuse and mislead the Umnoputras out of Umno.
In short,he is a planted agent.

If Pak Lah manage to stave off all the challenges to step down Mukhriz's days in UMNO are numbered. I wonder if he understood that.

Mamak left because he has no confidence in Umno.
Mukhriz did not follow his father because he has no confidence in his father.
Anak sendiri pun menderhaka!!! Kah kah kahhh........ Show some balls lah, Mukhriz!! If you believe your father is more effective outside Umno than inside, then leave lah! No? Hmm... figured as much.

his action seems to tell that his love for the party is more than his love for his own "father" (not so sure). Stand up and be counted by your father. Or maybe, the father can't even get his son to resign, yet he is asking the PM to resign.

the ol' mamak-mengaku-melayu goat probably regretted his decision to quit from UMNO... the mamak-son-mengaku-melayu-Mokhzani doesn't have any position in UMNO... so now it is left to the hairless-mamak-son-mengaku-melayu-Mukhriz to ensure that the ol' mamak-mengaku-melayu goat has intimate knowledge of the goings-on in UMNO secret meetings... rest assured, from now on , whatever comes out of hairless mamak-son-mengaku-melayu's mouth will be from ol' mamak-mengaku-melayu goat's mouth himself!

First, Mad-Hatter got played out just before he was about to be kicked out.
Then, Mock-Zany got real zany and baled out, otherwise he might be bailed out.
Now, we have Mock-Keris going against father, mother and brother by staking out.
Is this what you call a Mock-Crisis???

If Mukhriz, as the son and heir apparent to continue Mahatherism, does not heed Mahathir's call to quit UMNO, who else would? By staying in UMNO while the other members of his family (father, mother and brother Mokhazni) have quit, he is showing his true colours as a gutter politician with no pinciples. He is staying in UMNO not because that is the right thing (his father, Tun Dr, Mahathur thought otherwise and quit and encouraged others to do so to do) , but because of greed for power - he wants to be the next UMNO Youth Chief and knows that his chances are good, having received the approval of Hishamudin. Mukhriz is both a greedy politician and disloyal son who has shamed Mahathir by staying in UMNO.

Mukhriz is a typical pure 100% UMNO piece of shit. The lust of power is such that he isn't going to back up his old man. He wants to be UMNO Youth leader and nothing, not even his father's plea is going to get in his way. Mukhriz obviously has never heard of filial piety or respect to his father, and couldn't give a shit. How can Mahathir expect other MPs to obey him when his own son treats him like dung and stabs him in the back? I almost (almost!) feel sorry for mahathir.

Mukriz,
What la you. Quit UMNO lah. Why you so disloyal to your dad? It was your dad brought you to this world, not UMNO. And you can forget your ambition to take over the Youth. Maybe, ABB will announce a snap poll again and after that, you will find yourself got nothing left. Want to be MP again? You can do that by contesting as Independent and if you win, you can sit beside Ibrahim Ali in Parliament if he got a second chance.
Mahathir,
I think your plan to shake ABB would fail as long as your own son ignore your call. You want people to follow your herd while your own son betrayed your call? Hahaha, what a joke man.
UMNO people are like that. Love power and position more than principle, in other words, like lalang lah. If want to blame, blame yourself for naturing such culture in UMNO.

Mukriz isn't disloyal to his father. He's the idiot left behind to cover for the old man. You think the old man so stupid? Nooo ... it's Mukhriz who is too stupid to see that he's the sacrificial lamb. Or goat (if he looks like one, he is one).
