Murder suspects Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar Umar lodged a police report against blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin over an allegation he made in his weblog. The blogger is facing charges over what he wrote about the murder trial in his blog.

by The Court Room Stomp

THE CASE

28-year-old Mongolian beauty Ms Altantuya Shaariibuu with her younger son, Atanshagai.

She was shot twice in the head and her body blown up with plastic explosives.

28-year-old Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu was allegedly killed after she demanded US $500,000 ($770,000) from her former lover, political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda to provide medical treatment for their sick son.

She had arrived in Kualar Lumpur with two other Mongolian women on Oct 8 last year, and had went to Abdul Razak's office and house several times to look for him but was rebuffed by his security guards.

After she arrived, she apparently hired a private detective to find out more about her lover. She was also reported to have sent him many SMS messages.

Mr Abdul Razak Baginda,
former lover of Ms Altantuya Shaariibuu

On Oct 19, she received a phone call to meet Abdul Razak at his house. When she showed up outside his house, she was allegedly seized by several men, bundled into a car and driven away. That was the last time she was seen alive.

Abdul Razak has been charged with abetting her murder while two policemen from an elite unit, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 30, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 35, are accused of murdering her.

WHAT HAPPENED

7 NOV 2006

Police at Subang Dam, where the bone fragments of Mongolian model, Miss Altantuya Shaariibuu were found
Police find bone fragments, believed to belong to Ms Shaariibuu at a ditch in a secluded area near a dam in Puncak Alam.

Three police officers have been arrested in connection with the case. They include a chief inspector who is a member of the security detail of a Cabinet minister, a corporal attached to a commando squad responsible for protecting VIPs and a woman anti-vice detective. Two private investigators are also remanded.

Ms Shaariibuu's former lover, 46-year-old Mr Abdul Razak Baginda is picked up for questioning. A court allowed the police to detain him for five more days to help in investigations.

9 NOV 2006

Location where parts of Ms Altantuya Shaariibuu's
body were found.

10 of Ms Shaariibuu's relatives arrived late amid tight security at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Her father, Mr Shaariibuu Setev, is believed to be among them. They evaded a waiting media contingent and were taken immediately to the Kuala Lumpur Police headquarters to assist in investigations.

Ms Shaariibuu's father is expected to provide DNA samples to facilitate the identification of her remains.

Meanwhile, police investigators continued to scour the secluded site outside the city where the bone fragments were found for more evidence.

Some of her personal effects, said to be a ring, a ear-ring and a wristwatch, have also been recovered.

But it is not known if these items, which are being used to help identify her, were recovered from her hotel room or the site where her body was found.

Investigators also brought Mr Abdul Razak yesterday to his office near the Petronas Twin Towers.

They are believed to have seized documents and CCTV footage from his office.

15 NOV 2006

Two policemen from an elite unit- Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 31, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 36 are charged with murdering Ms Altantuya Shaariibuu
The results of DNA tests have confirmed that the bone fragments came from Miss Shaariibuu.

Two Malaysian policemen were charged with the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu. Both men, who appeared tired but calm, were taken to court in handcuffs and nodded when asked if they understood the charge. No plea was recorded. The accused are with an elite police tactical unit called the Unit Tindakan Khas (Special Forces Unit), which protects VIPs.

Another police officer who was detained, an unnamed female corporal, was released on bail.

The next day, on 16 Nov, Abdul Razak was charged with abetting the murder of a Mongolian model and is facing a possible death sentence.

24 NOV 2006

Abdul Razak Baginda was freed on bail yesterday after he pleaded not guilty to conspiring to murder a Mongolian woman.

It was a surprising decision, as those implicated in murder cases in Malaysia are rarely allowed to be freed on bail as conviction carries a mandatory death sentence. Abdul Razak appeared frail and dazed in the dock, but smiled and hugged his lawyer and family on news that he would be released.

Under the terms of his release, Abdul Razak's passport was impounded, but neither he nor his family was required to deposit the 1 million ringgit with the court. Instead, Abdul Razak's brother, Rani Abdullah, and sister, Rohani Abdullah – who signed the sureties for his release – would be fined 100,000 ringgit each time he failed to make a court appearance.

15 DEC 2006

Abdul Razak waving to the crowd as he enters the High Court

The prosecutor in the murder case of Altantuya Shaariibuu has asked a High Court judge for an early trial date to quell rumours that persons other than the three accused men were involved. The court yesterday was packed with more than 100 members of the public, lawyers, reporters and family members of the three accused.

Although the hearing started after 9am, the courtroom was full by 8am.

Policemen had to lock the doors to prevent more people from entering.

Responding to the prosecution yesterday, Judicial Commissioner Zaki Md Yasin said the trial date would be set on Jan 5, when the case is mentioned before the designated trial judge, Datuk K.N. Segara.

He also granted bail to Abdul Razak for medical reasons which is an earlier decision by the Kuala Lumpur High Court last month.

But unlike the Kuala Lumpur High Court, which did not ask for bail to be deposited, he ordered the sum of RM1 million (S$434,000) to be deposited with the court before Abdul Razak could be released.

Abdul Razak managed to raise bail by 3pm and left the courthouse with his family in a Mercedes-Benz car.

6 JAN 2007

Ms Mazlinda Makhzan, Abdul Razak Baginda's wife, lashing out at photographers outside the court on Friday as her husband is led away to prison to await trial next year.

A HIGH Court judge in Kualar Lumpur yesterday sent Abdul Razak to jail to await trial for the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu, as they denied him bail after it expired last week. Abdul Razak, 46, was originally granted bail in November of RM1million (S$437,000) on the grounds of poor health.

Judge K.N. Segara rejected an oral plea for an extension of Abdul Razak's bail, but said he would hear a formal application on Jan19.

Dressed in a blue shirt and black trousers, Abdul Razak appeared calm and cheerful as he arrived in court for the hearing with his family.

But he looked shocked at the judge's decision not to extend the bail.

The judge, Datuk Segara, has set the trial date for Abdul Razak along with the main accused policemen for March 2008.

21 JAN 2007

Razak Baginda with his family at Shah Alam High Court. Prominent political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda being led away by police. He has admitted to having an affair with Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu but denies having her killed.

Prominent political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda admitted to police that he had an affair with murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Ironically, the move was an apparent attempt by his lawyer, Mr Wong to show that while his client was guilty of infidelity to his wife and family, he had no connection to her murder.

His lawyer hoped that strategy would convince the court to release him on bail rather than keep him behind bars until his trial in March next year.

Despite appearing to come clean about his role in Miss Altantuya's death, he failed to move the judge.

The judge sent Abdul Razak back to jail.

10 MAR 2006

The murder trial was yesterday brought forward by nine months, and will be heard by a different judge.

Judicial Commissioner Mohammed Zaki Md Yasin has set a one-month period, from June 4 to 29, for the trial of prominent political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda and two policemen for the murder of a Mongolian model last year.

Datuk Mohd Zaki explained at the hearing that the trial had been brought forward because of the recent appointment of more judges to clear a backlog of cases.

Looks like when a murder is committed by people holding high office, it takes longer than usual to solve! The laws become more complicated when it involves them! The trials become longer than necessary when it involves them! In the end, they will go away scot free! This is the law, not of the jungle, but of the famous and rich!

Why would the two policemen kill this Mongolian lady when they have nothing to do with her? Obviously they must have taken orders from someone higher. How come this angle is never investigated? Something fishy is going on.

Loud mouthed Nazri says all are equal before the law. Here a murderer was allowed bail. When his case went before a neutral judge his bail was revoked. Then the judge was removed from the case. Then the prosecutors were removed from the case.

There was a DSP Musa who quite clearly, according to Razak's affidavit, was instrumental in bring the murdering parties together. He appears to go scot free for the moment. So what equality before the law are we walking about.

How about the 22 assemblymen from Trengganu? When are going to made equal before the law?

Of course, someone higher up gave the orders to dispose her and remove all evidence. Remember, the reputation of our kangaroo courts! Our judges will rule according to orders from higher ups too!! Mark my words, those higher ups will not even be called to take the witness stand, or attend court. Their names will not even be mentioned!! Alas! the master race keeps on supporting this system.

This is a very high conspiracy murder case that involved VVIP individual from the goverment that hold very powerful positions.

Simply, why is it difficult to prosecute Razek Beginer ??? The answer is a no brainer..... if Razek Beginder is to be put on the gallows, he (Beginder) will not hesitate provide concrete proof and drag the shadowy culprit out to the open. Razek Beginder has nothing to loose, he's a dead guy walking anyway. Time is at his side. Except if he is found mysteriously dead in his cells. Such sudden death cases does happen in Boleh Land jail or hollywood movies..i kid u not.

No. 2 is now doing all he can to influence the court key decision maker the Mongolian murder is a close case (perhaps for national security ??). This may cost him hundred of millions in dirty money transfer but his life is worth more than that, he can always churned back 10 times fold if continue his reign in power again. Also this money comes from our generous taxpayer. All he need to do is look for loophole in the law, I'm sure there are several as he is much familiar than us pesky, good for nothing ungrateful rakyat.

To perform an explosion with C4 on a mere human is very tricky. First, you would have to immobilise the person. To save some hassle, put a bullet through the head. Or if you like it sadistic, tie the person up and blow him up alive. Personally, I'd prefer to blow up a dead human being. Saves loads of trouble and the struggling might make the whole process a lot harder. Then again, blowing up a living human being is a whole different experience. After making sure that the person stays put, you would have to tie about a good kilograms worth around the body to ensure every inch of the flesh is blasted to bits. If you fail to do so, people will discover the remains! Not good, Najib. Finally, activate the detonator for the finishing touch.

Whether there's VVIP involved or not, this case is certainly connected to the military contracts.

Therefore, an independent bipartisan Royal Committee that reports direcly to the Parliament should be set up to carry out detailed study into the military deal.

This case had tarnished our country image as country with law and order. We must fight at all cost to bring back the dignity and country image.

Is personal image and interest more important than national's?

Simple, if there is no political influence, how to obtain C4 and how immigration records can be erased and police personnel from security team of high political office bearers are involved. DAY AND NIGHT, DARK PLANS ARE BEING HATCHED AMONG BADAWI, NAJIB, LEGAL TEAM, FAMILIES AND ASS-LICKERS ON HOW TO GET NAJIB OUT OF THE MURDER CHARGE.NO DOUBT, THE CASE WILL BE DELAYED, PROLONGED AND DISMISSED BY TECHNICALITIES- ALL SET UP BY THE MAFIA JUDICIARY. AND THEY ARE DOING IT BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL TIED UP IN THE WEB OF PLUNDERING AND MURDERS AND CANNOT GET OUT OF THE DEEP DARK HOLE.

Barisan, Umno are in disarray, chaos and the country is being run like a lost ship at night, without power, sail, rudder or navigation.
Barisan, Umno are liars, cheats, swindlers, landgrabbers, robbers and murderers , up to their necks in corruption so much so that not one of them is brave enough to tell them “enough is enough. Let us pay for raping Malaysia.” Yet they protect themselves with the help of corrupted judiciary, police, army and govt officials; sleep with the crimes bosses and the media play their filthy part by covering up their horrible misdeeds. Yet, none of the MPs, MBs, officials and the crime bosses is under ISA, in jail, bashed in jail, fondled and raped in jail, shot, blown up with bombs, money and assets seized like they do to rakyat. How do you and your families sleep at night????????????
With all govt machinery to cover up all the terrible misdeeds of Barisan, Umno, no justice can take place. Mr Altantuya, you might as well try and break the Great Wall of China with you head. You are wasting your life away waiting for the guilty ones to pay for your daughter’s gruesome murder. When you are dead and gone, the case will just be forgotten. You can cry a river of tears but no justice will take place for your murdered daughter. Get that into your thick head.

When rakyat speak out and point out gross injustices, we are dragged into jail without charges under ISA, bashed, terrorized or threatened with injury and death.

Why didn't the police prove any connection between the two policemen and Razak? So far we have not heard of any relationship between them. We have also not heard of any motive on why the policemen killed the poor woman. Did Razak paid the policemen to do the job? Razak won't be able to ask them to do the job as a favor as he didn't know them. So who actually instructed them to do it?

The two policemen could not have acted without orders from their superiors, this is a no brainer. The funny thing is whenever any connections or reference is made to higher-ups during court proceedings it's immediately diverted away. It's like a concerted effort not to involve some very important persons.
Not only that, before the court proceedings started the DPP has indicated only 3 persons are involved. How would he know?

Why are the 2 policemen keeping silent (over who ordered the killing, etc) while being tried for a CAPITAL offence! They know they will NOT be hung...that's why.
Waste of taxpayers' money to have a scam of a trial!

But the most important 'verdict' from the expose (of Alantuya's murder) is:
1)UMNO ministers are CORRUPT..a necessity for staying in power
2)The Politics of staying in power and the actors (i.e.many Malaysian politicians) will get away with murder to stay in power.(The party comes 1st before the law and human life)

History shows that eventually Justice will prevail. as the wicked will be crushed..only a matter of time.

On 13th May 2008, as reported in The Star

Later, Kuldeep drew ASP Tonny's attention to several phone numbers in C/Insp Azilah's handphone log for calls made on the night of Oct 19, 2006, and asked if the owners of those numbers had been identified.

The investigating officer identified one number as belonging to one ASP Azani Omar from the UTK and another as the number used by officers-on-duty at the elite squad's headquarters, which was one Sjn Ramle Harun that night.

However, ASP Tonny could not identify three other cell phone numbers listed in the log as he did not investigate them.

Why did ASP Tonny did not investigate? Was he directed not the investigate?
If so, by whom? These are relevant questions that needs to be asked, but not asked.

How come these two policemen always cover their faces when they go to court?
People are beginning to speculate they will be given new identities and released even after being found guilty?
There are so many funny things going on, can we be blamed if we think the whole court case is a sham?

I believe Gasak Beginner did not intend for the poor lady to have died the way she did. The most he wanted is for her to be deported after all she was once his lover.
I certainly doubt he's that evil but I am not so sure about those around him.

I mean I didn't know they were so many morons and incompetent fools in the AG's office and the PDRM until this trial.

They unshamefully admit to not doing their job properly or doing an incomplete investigations and the prosecutors just ignores it and did not request the court to direct the officers to investigate further.

Any doubts about the ending?

RPK do take care of yourself and be extra careful when accused murderers start threatening you.

I don't know when this trial will end...but yesterday, i read a report regarding a murder of a chinese boy at one prominent businessman's house and yet i think the murderer get away with it. I remember back then, i was damn fed up with that kind of decision. If one person die inside someone's house, still cannot find the murderer? ptui !!! refer to the link here:

So what about this Altantuya case? i'm really afraid that after a long time playing ping pong and ding dong here and there, it will end up no where again...and every accused will be acquitted...

We will always be considered a Third World Banana Republic with scandals like this;the Police beating of foreign visitors; forced deportation of foreign workers by the Immigration Department and Syariah Khalwat raids on married non-Muslim tourists.
As responsible Malaysians, it is imperative that we clean up our house. We need a "REGIME CHANGE" to refurbish our soiled image and reputation. Thank you TDM for effing us up!

If Altantuya case is not resolved. I think Genghis Khan will rise from his grave to invade Malaysia and bring all the culprit to justice.

The man behind supposed to be investigated but yet capable of commanding the police to come after the whistle blower due to his "distinguished" position! Is this not the so-called double standard and would it not be the Malaysian law that is going to be disparaged by the other Nations of true democratic practice?!

This is perhaps one of the main causes to deter many foreign investors to land in to invest! After all who dares to risk his capitals and life in a place where they anticipate uncivilized and bloodthirsty in human nature, there is no sense of security whatsoever!!...............
