(Malaysiakini) Malaysia Today webmaster Raja Petra Kamaruddin - presently in jail for refusing to pay bail - has refused to have any contact with anyone including his own wife, Marina Lee Abdullah.

Marina when contacted this morning said she had gone to the Kuala Lumpur Remand Centre to meet Raja Petra and to ask him if he would want to post bail today.

"The officer at the registration counter (of the remand centre) have informed me that my husband has refused to see anyone including me," she told Malaysiakini.

She then said that she has demanded to see the deputy warden of the remand centre to get further information and is still waiting for the meeting.

Raja Petra was charged yesterday with sedition at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court over an article which he wrote in his website.

The article allegedly implied that Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife of being involved in the killing of a young Mongolian woman.

Raja Petra claimed trial to the charge. He was charged under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act for publishing seditious article on April 25 on Malaysia Today.

Hearing has been fixed from Oct 6 to 10 and Raja Petra was granted a bail of RM5,000, which he refused to post, deciding instead to remain in custody until the hearing date five months from today.

it is better for Marina and RPK's lawyers to get the bottom of this matter. How could one simply believe that RPK refuse to see his wife one who loves so much?

Two possible scenario.
1) RPK was treated like a sinner and the jail guards acted like God giving punishment to him; or
2) Jail guard was lying

At a time like this, we need a leader to stand up and free the one we've followed since He set up Malaysia Today?

It's possible that someone is "blocking" outside contact with him.... someone has to find out the truth.

or
RPK is on extreme protest mode... refusing to be treated like any criminal or suspect.. therefore not wanting any rights (like a common criminal or suspect) as well.

there should be no case, no charges, no detention

I hope this is just what it is, that RPK wants to stay in jail to prove his point and not anything else. Perhaps Marina should ask for a picture of him taken from jail or just get a video camera in to have him say a few words to his wife to prove that he is okay.

Meditation is also powerful weapon for people who want enlightened by superpower. RPK might be in meditation days. But, I think he is not too stupid for not telling his condition even to his wife. It is kinda weird if he keeps refuse to meet anyone after Seventh days. Need to clarify why? The easy way to make a journey is to go the hardest direction.

Anwar must take charge of the situation. He can get PR to organize a march to Sg Buloh with two things in mind:

1. We or at least Marina must be able to visit and converse with RPK and,

2. At the very least the government must accept the bail put up by Marina or anyone else and free RPK immediately.

If this morally reprehensible arrest of RPK does not end immediately, then PR, together with thousands of M-T readers, can march to the PM's office EVERY DAY until RPK's free. Readers can take turns in the march - shouldn't be difficult to get a large crowd ready every morning.

Dear MT Staff and Members,

All I can think off at this moment is RPK is suffering “black eye” treatment like what DSAI suffered before. We have to continue pressure the prison authority so we can be assured that nothing bad happen to him.

The last time on DSAI issue, the public pressure manage to force the police to reveal the black eye incident !

Lets pray nothing as such happen to our hero!

It's pretty clear the AG (Anjing Gomen) is only interested to protect the powerful few and slam the rakyat majority.

Those that kena sindir or terasa perit by your article simply have no balls to address this matter in a civil court of law like everyone else, instead preferring to take the sneaky route of abuse of power and using the AG's office to get at you. Not only that they have such blatant disregard that they hide in plain sight from the rakyat by telling lies even in the Parliament. What is the point of Angkat Sumpah when they act with such impunity?? Tak Da Malu kah?

DSAI was once accused of such abuse of power and ended up in jail simply like that and here we have a clear cut case and I wonder if present PM is looking at your case with interest or just sweep it under the carpet and balik tidur like always?

The rakyat is certainly watching this case very closely and you made such brilliant moves so far already, we should name you the "Rebel with a Cause" , you are simply too cool bro.

You can incarcerate the body of RPK but you cannot imprison his mind. I knew from the very beginning, the refusal to pay the bail is the first step by RPK to fight the injustice meted out on him. The history of all great men who have sacrificed for a noble cause has illustrated this! RPK is no ordinary being! He will do what he thinks is right.

I strongly beleive RPK indeed wants to see the Marina. There are so much to talk of family matters especially the children affairs. This is the usual pyscological breakdown tactics of those unskill animated personel creating much believe and confusion. This is how they break up the person mind. RPK be like DSAI and remain unbroken. Please keep mindful of the identity of the police who may hurt you. RPK can produce evidence in court as an exibit to the case. Marina please seek the help of the panel lawyers to get excess to see your husband at all cost.

I have a feeling that he is being denied visitation rights, because they are afraid he will send another article to Malaysia Today to be published via a middle man. Until Lim Kit Siang or Karpal Singh tells us DIRECTLY that RPK himself is refusing visitation, we should not believe this!

The government wants to shut him up. Now they think by isolating RPK, he will lose the momentum of support.

Dangerously, I am wondering what sort of threats RPK is facing? The men who blew up a woman (presumably pregnant) with a C4 can pretty much do anything to RPK's family and friends...
