Malaysia’s folk hero Raja Petra opts for jail to prove a point PDF Print E-mail
Posted by admin
Wednesday, 07 May 2008 08:49

Spent the evening working with Mus on a press statement in response to the action taken against Raja Petra.

it is just three days after we marked World Press Freedom Day.

Not good. And downright depressing.

But mind you, this move could backfire. It is high stakes poker, and I guess they didn’t anticipate that Raja Petra would refuse bail. Now he is in jail and the glare of the international media will focus even more on him, the Malaysian government, the judiciary and the Altantuya trial.

Certain people are going to be shifting in their seats rather uncomfortably - or maybe having sleepless nights. They have no idea what Raja Petra is going to say in court, come October.

As Malaysiakini observes, hauling Raja Petra to court has only turned him into a legend - if he is not already one. For it was Raja Petra and his Malaysia Today website that played a not insignificant role in the fall of five states to Pakatan Rakyat.

High possibility that RPK will be discharged soon bcos
1. Handcuffed RPK is attracting more and more attention worldwide.
2. RPK has evidence that what he wrote were true.

The alternate theorists out there say Najib and party are being one upped by hidden hands.....Najib is taking the brunt of the mass feeling, as intended by these hidden hands.......and Najib needs to move mountains to stem the tide.

Price for paying politics steeped in cronyism and titular rewards. What a pity - for sidelining meritocracy .

RPK's jailing is actually going to help the PM. With Najib swirled in this controversy until October. The pressue is off Pak Lah to resign with the excuse that Najib cannot take over now...

This is a good opportunity for those shooting to take down both..

Proclamation of War?

So by sending Pete to jail, i suppose they are doing what the Chinese government(China) are doing to silence their people. But we Malaysians are not like those Chinese people... You think they can scare the shit out of us so we can stop bitching about the truth? I think any decent man/netizen should not be deterred to saying out his mind. And mind you, if the man implicated in the article does not have power in the gov, you think he could send poor Pete to jail?

For those who argue Pete broke the law or something, remember that 'law' is created by man. Man has fault and therefore its creations are not perfect. The 'law' has always been a tool for the rich and now we are seeing this with our own eyes!

I just hope Pete won't get raped in jail by some random sex-starved criminal.

The bigger picture need to be seen.

This is an outright violation of BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS - THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH that is enshrined in our constitution.

There have to be a concerted effort to pressure the super powers to repeal or abolish all this DRACONIAN LAWS we have eg. SEDITIONS, ISA, OSA.

Every citizen and politician of Malaysia irrespective of political divide must and have to stand up to push for this reforms

So they are putting RPK away for sedition.
Isn’t that a true and tried UMNO tradition?
Abusing the law to create confusion and instill fear
On people who are defending what we really hold dear

But, alas, this time UMNO’s antic will backfire
It has manouvered itself into a political quagmire
It is right for RPK to stand firm and refuse bail
He enjoys even more celebrity attention whilst in jail

Of course the murderers can do him in with more C4
But the situation is somewhat different now than before
Now we have the climate of a post-March 8 spring
Jailing RPK is really doing the stupidest thing

Power has dulled our bankrupt leaders to common sense
Trying to coverup crimes under very stupid pretence
The truth is already out there as disclosed by RPK
Even killing him will not bring back our “semua-nya OK!”

Is it now the time that you have been frequently mentioned to topple the current BN government?

I hope that you and PR will expedite the process so that RPK can be given a proper trial to seek his innocence as soon as possible.

A reminder to DSAI and the new PR government in future. The citizens of Malaysia will not rest on their laurels and will be watching very closely each and every movement of this new PR government. If found that there is any abuse of power by the new PR government it will also be brought down by PEOPLE POWER

It is time that all the BN members be they white or black, fat or skinny, short or tall, rich or poor, loyal or wavering to stand up to answer their own conscience.
Do they want their future generations to be imposed on by laws which are wrong? They have to realise that there is no guarantee that their kins and future generations will be YES MEN like what they are today.
If nothing is done today, their future genarations could very well end up like RPK.

Listen to your conscience BN men. Take this opportunity to make your voice be known before you become HISTORY. Do not worry anymore about being discarded or disciplined by BN. But worry more on the future of this country.

I truly fear for RPK as the rule of law is no longer what it should be in Malaysia. Too much is at stake for the corrupted to walk away from, we should brace ourselves for more acts of desperation by the bad folks.

So its begun, phase two...oppression and denial. They fail to look inside their hearts and souls to the root cause of the problem. The cancerous poison of lies and deceit. Of oppression. Of suppression.

The cripple is kicking out and screaming as their crutches are being removed. They are screaming that the fat of the land that they have accumulated around their waists for 39 years is being questioned. They will continue to hold up the Keris, Abuse religion, and while everyone is focused on religion, have a good root in the wallets of the Rakyat, and engage in the lies and deceit.

"Your rights are under attack"
"Your religion is under attack"
"Your priviledges are under attack"

What rights, what priviledges. Ask the unemployed drug addicted Mat Rempits. Ask the workers in Mc Donalds or Starbucks. Ask Hotel workers. Ask barmen and waiters. Ask the chefs and cooks. Ask the people who work at Carrefour, Mid Valley. Ask the Taxi drivers. Did YOU benefit from N.E.P?

And they will reply...."What N.E.P?"...."What priviledge?"

Its very easy. Politicians in my country did this crap for decades. Incidentally Najib Tun Razak on Hardtalk on the B.B.C had the audacity, and the gall to make a comparison to my country.

Ireland. The small formerly dysfunctional bit of it in the North East....Northern Ireland.

"Why are you comparing Malaysia when it took you decades to solve the problems in Northern Ireland"

Well....Tun Razak, let me explain while not being too long winded. The problems in Northern Ireland exploded when the problems of a minority were not addressed by a semi aristocratic group in the majority. They used the same lies and excuses. They used..

"This is a protestant state for a protestant people" (Sir James Craig, 1943)

Do you NOTICE any parallels?

They sought to dispossess and alienate the Rakyat there, and managed to manipulate and poison the minds of working class ordinary Northern Irish protestants to do this. They destroyed the economy in the process and turned it into a basket case, so that they could retain control and have their estates, their mansions and great houses, their Mercedes and Sportscars. Today, the Northern Irish, both Catholic and Protestant are amongst the most educated people on earth. (I'm a Southerner, so...I'm not one of them) are scattered to the Four corners of the earth, and....whats more you see educated Malaysians scattered in every city. You'll find them in restaurants and betting offices, and hotels, making a better life, and wiring their money home. You'll find them working in I.T, Finance and Law. And....they are from all races and creeds in Malaysia.

Let me quote your Fathers reply when in 1974, Lee Kwan Yew asked about the brain drain in Malaysia. (Source, The Singapore Story, from Third World to First)

adbul Razak allegedly replied. "Its not a brain drain, its a trouble drain"

I suppose thats why the quality of Government schools has declined.
I suppose thats why there was so much concentration on having Malay as the only language. If the Rakyat could only think and speak in Malay, they would be insulated from "corrupt outside influences",
I suppose thats why you don't want people thinking, and the people who make the Rakyat think have to be removed.

Your Father did that with Anwar Ibrahim in 1974 when he was a student activist.
Your doing it today with RPK.

Razak, you are wide awake. Take some Teh Tarik, grab the suitcase, and have a word with Zeti Akhtar Aziz. She might be able to assist you on the way out. Don't forget to turn off the lights on your way out.

If they can only read one language, they can only think in one language, and they are therefore unable to read a rich body of information from outside the land.

Lets just put it to you this way. When I see the Ringgit printed with Malay, English, Tamil and Chinese on the notes, then it will be respected as much as the Sing Dollar. Until then, it will be a glorified Pacific Peso.

Finally, you can arrest, oppress, intimidate, but you will fail this time because of the Internet. You would do wise to recall the last days of East Germany, and recall the words of the people.

"Wir sind ein volk" (We are one people)

UMNO. Tear down the walls of racism. Set RPK Free. Set this nation free.

I vote that now, it is a mandatory agenda that BR Rakyat demands that BR leaderships take affirmative and positive action to put an end to this BN crap. The BR Rakyat can only do so much, but for DSAI and BR leaderships, it is your concerted obligation to put the pressure on the BN government for justice. So lets get the ball rolling. To fight fire with fire, is the old way. Lets fight this “BN fire with BR water of justice”, only water will putout the fire every time, so we awaits for your actions.

People,

Perservere and keep the fire burning. From now till Oct date of RPK Court proceeding, relentless effort to enliven YM Raja Petra cause has to be maintained. Knowing full well how it is always the tendencies to prolong, foot dragging and hoping the people will wane modus operandi of the Gomen of the day. It has been in their SOP and banal bumpkin politicking. Keep posting, keep advertising in the form of T shirt statements and any kind of prominent visual effect to keep it ALIVE!

RPK - The Gutsy Blogger
I admire your courage and the commitment you've made to help others, often at risk of own your life. But the government that serves us has passed too many laws. And that same government is systematically destroying the rights which our Constitution says may not be infringed - very specifically.

Dear Bloggers,

Whatever that is happening to RPK now is a warning that SOMEONE has the POWER to catch anyone he feels fit to be caught - it's a method used to scare everyone who is blogging at Malaysia Kini website to retreat, and to "shut up".

My fear is that the treatment which Datuk Seri Anwar had as soon as he was arrested till the time he was freed would be replicated in RPK's case. Black eye, sprained neck, denied foreign medical attention are all possibilities once the police get hold of him. Did RPK really request that he doesn't want to see anyone? No evidence yet. Let's see what he says in our comedy court.

Pray for a fair trial, fair treatment and speedy release from prison.

Dear Raja Petra,
It's so very unfair.
You should not be in jail, you should be out here to continue the fight.
The persons who should be in jail are the ones who put you there.
So, don't punish yourself, you have a long battle ahead of you.
GOD bless you.

RPK - While I totally respect your actions in wanting to prove a point, I believe you languishing in prison for the next few months serves very little purpose, productively speaking.

While you are in, the powers-that-be will glee with joy. If you're out, then it's a different story.

We donated generously towards your cause because we want you OUT, not IN. If you had decided to stay in prison, then what was the point of the fund-raising?

You asked for RM1.00 per person to bail you out. We have far surpassed that, so why are you still being indignant and stubborn?

Why are you even refusing to see your wife? She needs your go-ahead as to the next course of action as far as your indictment is concerned.

Unless you have a specific strategy in mind in accomplishing what you want, then it's a different story.
