What is Islam? PDF Print E-mail

Whatever it may be, one thing is very clear in my mind. This is God’s will and if I am to suffer a fate of long detention then this is what God has willed for me. And I will submit to God’s will for does not Islam mean submission?

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

I attended a dinner a few weeks ago and amongst the 30 or 40 in attendance was one MCA chap who admitted he had contested the general election twice but lost on both counts. If he had contested the recent election he would have made it a perfect score of three. As they say in the US, three times and you’re out.

The host asked me to say a few words, which I did, and this was followed by a questions and answers session. Amongst the questions was one posed by the MCA chap. He wanted to know if I am still a Muslim as what I write gives an impression I have left Islam.

I noticed that the host was a bit uncomfortable. He said that that is a very personal question and added they should refrain from posing personal questions. He then turned to me and said I need not reply if I did not wish to do so. But I did wish to reply and I did.

I do not blame this MCA chap for asking me that. Being Chinese and a non-Muslim he probably does not understand what Islam is all about. In fact, many Muslims themselves do not understand Islam and to them Islam is merely the five rukun or rituals that all Muslims must perform to get ‘confirmed’ as a Muslim.

Rituals, however, are just that, rituals. These are what Muslims would call fardu ain. You acknowledge in your heart and on your lips that there is no God but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, you pray five times a day, you pay your tithes (zakat and fitrah), you fast 29-30 days in a year during the month of Ramadhan, and you go Mekah at least once in your lifetime to perform your pilgrimage or Haj if you are able to (health-wise, finance-wise, and if it poses no danger to your safety and security and you are not barred from leaving your home).

Doing these five things would make you a Muslim but only as far as performing the rituals are concerned. Whether you are truly a Muslim at heart or just a ‘show’ Muslim would be subject to whether you really have faith or akidah. And akidah can never be in the rituals you perform. It has to be something that rests in your head and lies in your heart. Which means you have no control over akidah. Either you have it or you don’t. You can’t ‘perform’ akidah like you can your prayers, fasting, Haj, and so on.

The akidah part is where most Muslims fail. They could be doing more than just fast 29-30 days a year but be fasting on the optional days as well. They could be praying more than just five times a day but be performing the optional prayers as well. They could be going to Mekah every year with the ‘small Haj’ or Umrah thrown in between that. And they could be paying more than just the 2.5% tithe but be giving sedekah (donations) to all forms of charity and causes. But if they don’t have akidah then they are not Muslims. And many Muslims are merely ‘show’ Muslims but not really Muslims at heart.

Uttering on your lips that there is no God but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God is easy. Even believing that is not difficult. Praying five times a day and fasting 30 days or more a year is also not difficult. In fact, it may actually be quite healthy if you are not diabetic or suffer from gastric. And paying a lot of money by way of tithes and by donating to various charities plus going to Mekah every year is also no problem if you are rich. However, beyond this, most Muslims fail miserably.

How many Muslims would believe in and accept God’s will? They would believe in God and believe that God owns all and decides all but they find great difficulty in believing in and accepting God’s will. Of course, every Muslim will say that man proposes but God disposes. But do they really believe this? And can they accept this? Sad to say, most would not.

I received a phone call early this morning saying that the police have contacted YB William Leong to inform him they will be taking me in today. It was not made clear whether it would be to take my statement, which they failed to get from me last Friday, or whether I am to be detained or charged. Nevertheless, I am on standby, waiting for them to phone me to ‘surrender’ myself to Bukit Aman, or for them to come to my house to arrest me. Either way I am waiting and am quite prepared for the prospect that this may be my last article for quite some time to come.

Whatever it may be, one thing is very clear in my mind. This is God’s will and if I am to suffer a fate of long detention then this is what God has willed for me. And I will submit to God’s will for does not Islam mean submission?

Yes, Islam is not about rituals. Islam is not about ‘showing’ you are a true Muslim by performing rituals. Islam is about submission and there can be no submission unless you are able to and prepared to submit to God’s will. Not doing so would mean that you have no submission in your heart and therefore would not be a Muslim at heart.

Thus far I have only mentioned fardu ain, the rituals that a Muslim needs to perform. But Islam is more than just fardu ain. There is another fardu called fardu kifayah. And fardu kifayah is mandatory upon all Muslims. But fardu kifayah is not about rituals. It is about doing your duty to the community. And one of the most important tasks a Muslim must perform for his community is to oppose all forms of evil or kemunkaran.

And that is what I perform under the mandatory fardu kifayah. I oppose evil. But the government calls it sedition. And for my ‘crime’ of sedition they would like to send me to jail. I would not like to go to jail for grabbing the backside of a cigar girl. I would not like to go to jail for raping an underage girl. I would not like to go to jail for murdering a Mongolian woman. I would not like to go to jail for robbing the nation. But I would enjoy going to jail for fulfilling my duty as a true Muslim under the mandatory fardu kifayah. So I await jail with glee in my heart.

I know the order from ‘the top’ is to put me out of action. The powers-that-be is of the opinion that the ruling party suffered a licking in the 8 March 2008 general election because they lost the media war and that Malaysia Today is one of the contributors.  So, by putting me away would mean that Malaysia Today would be rendered impotent. This is what they believe. And they also believe that by taking me in, probably later today, this would solve the problems of the ruling party.

There is one thing the powers-that-be appears to have overlooked. And this is because they are merely Muslims by ritual and not Muslims at heart. And what they have overlooked is that nothing can happen without God’s will. But why would God will that I get taken in? Only God would know the answer to this question. The Lord, as we all know, moves in mysterious ways. God knows what He is doing. We must therefore look at the big picture. And the big picture would become clearer as time goes on.

So let us wait to see what happens today, that is if anything is going to happen. And if the police do like what they told YB William Leong they are going to do, then we must accept that this is what God wanted them to do. And as for the reason why God wanted them to do this will unravel in time. Whatever it may be, God is not frivolous. God does not do things for no reason. God always does things with a purpose in mind. So we must go along with God’s grand plan because God has said in the Holy Book that he is the greatest schemer of all and mankind can never be a greater schemer than Him.

So I await the arrival of the police or for the phone call for me to come surrender myself to Bukit Aman. And when that happens I will do what is required of me and not question God’s wisdom. For I am not a Muslim by way of mere rituals but a Muslim at heart. It is from God we came and to God we shall return. And everything that happens in-between is part of God’s grand plan.

Yes, performing rituals is easy. A ‘show’ Muslim is not hard to emulate. But a true Muslim at heart is what Islam is all about. And I would like to be that type of Muslim who surrenders to God’s will with gratitude in my heart and faith in that whatever befalls me is always for a reason and part of God’s plan that has been determined long before I came into the world midnight of 27 September 1950 in the Year of the Tiger.

It seems that although RPK has been asked "to donat" his laptop to Peace hill guys, there is no stopping RPK from writing. Bravo to you.

Yes, I agree with RPK that the public has been herded into believing what Islam should be...from the perspective of Islam Hadhari. Maybe in the eyes of AAB, the buttock carressing, the plunder of the nation's wealth, the murders either for political reasons or criminal acts are less dangerous than RPK's thoughts...

I trust that the Al-mighty has HIS own ways and I salute RPK for being honest in professing that his acts is part of fardhu kifayah...something that must be done to correct the wrong by part of the society and it is not burdened to all Muslims (Fardhu Ain).

Be brave...RPK...

Till then...G'nite RPK...wherever u are...

My heart bleeds when I read your note about being asked to be taken in for surely it is not GOD's will that you suffer such faith. Where in the Book of LiFE that allows a decent man like you to be jailed for speaking the TRUTH. Truly I said these evil people in power are without compare and I like to say that whoever you are I curse you for eternity and your generations to come.

If the "powers-that-be" think for a second that this will break the rakyat's resolve, they are dead wrong.

If the "powers-that-be" think that by abusing the current governing machinery they currently have (although not for long) they could bury their earthly sins forever, they are dead wrong.

If the "powers-that-be" think that justice will not be served on them during this lifetime, they are dead wrong.

If the "powers-that-be" think they can hijack Malaysia, our country which belongs to all her citizens, and stay above the law for their own sins for money and power, they are dead wrong.

RPK, its clear that you have the moral support of the masses. While not many will be willing to stick out their necks for one reason or the other, nevertheless not all are meant for great things. LKS, LGE and Anwar and several others have paid a heavy price serving time in prisons but had steadfastly persevere and their sacrifice have not been in vain. Others greats like Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Aung Yung Sung Ki have it what it takes to differ them to any normal person. I hope that you would not have to face the same faith as the others but at the same time I would not be suprised that you will be willing to. The support of the masses will hopefully provided you some of the strength besides your faith in your God in your continued pursue of justice for all Malaysian and even Mongolian.

If RPK is jailed, I would think the impact is far greater. Since he's bi-partisan and respected from the both side of the divide. And also acknowledgement from the top (read: royalty) and great following from the bottom (read: rakyat).

A SUMMARY RAJA PETRA WHO HAS TIGER CHARACTERISTIC:

You develop a sense of justice and care deeply about doing good deeds. You always feel superior which makes you a confident and egoistic person. With a tendency to procrastinate, you change your mind frequently or fail to sort out your preference altogether. However, once you have made up your mind, you will set out to complete whatever you have decided to do. As an ambitious person you are dauntless in searching for fame and fortune.
You are a flexible person, like a candle flame and not sturdy. Always seeking self-improvement you will always probe into the details and get to the bottom of things before making a deal or making an assessment. Though you are a fun and carefree person but in fact you are an intense and emotional person.

Emotionally a well-balanced person, with your sweet nature and sentiments you can make an excellent lover or partner. A dashing person, people can find you to be romantic though sometimes you can be rash and argumentative. People will advice your partner or lover to have you as his/her mate. To keep up or maintain the excellent relationship it is best that your partner or mate stay out of your path and avoid interfering with you. Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius or Aquarius born in Horse/Dog years are your best choice.
Where love affairs are concerned you are very passionate and your relationship is normally a long and lasting affair. You do not only consider the physical aspect but also the spiritual aspect and thus keep the burning passion lasting over a longer period than most people. You are bright, interesting and attractive but independent and not the clinging type and cannot tolerate unfaithfulness.
Profession
Being wiry and resilient, you can do any job without complaining even if it dirties your hand. With a natural grace, you can use your charm for personal improvement. You are a born leader and would not like to follow or be led by others. Always wanting to be a boss, you are impartial, congenial and fair. You can often take unpopular stands and this will bring loyalty and respect from your staff or associates. Some career choices suitable for you are designer, playwright or head of government department.
You have high energy and want excitement in life, which make careers like entertainment, public relations, marketing, broadcasting, advertising, journalism and creative professions suitable for you. You do not mind taking risks and you can be a speculator or even a gambler if you do not choose the correct profession.

JUSTICE UNDER THE HEAVENS IS ABOVE ALL GODS

Great deeds and gross injustices had been committed in the name of religion throughout history. One by people of compassion, the other by people without it.

Religion may be used by either group to serve their own purposes.

People's sense of justice and their struggle against injustice had never been the exclusive domain of any religion.

Justice is thus independent of a man's notion of his favorite deity.

The reason is likely because one is true Nature, the other is Not.

Pete, this news is shocking and sad. The path that you have chosen, fighting a vanguard action against falsehoods and injustices has never been an easy one. Our Nation is mired in institutionalised corruption. We wallowed in our own misguided pride. Even as we celebrate our 50th Independence, we see our society half-baked and half-cooked led by weak and halfpast6/flip-flopping leaders. Our bridges can't even get off the drawing board, our subsidy schemes benefits our neighbors, our teachers are all giving tuitions, our undergraduates can't get jobs because they lacked useful skills, our tolls are robbing us blind everyday, we sack our best judges, we make sure our court systems are slow and tardy, our helicopters fall down from the sky from lack of maintenance, our busses collects summonses that are never paid, state files disappear after elections, our PM sleeps and takes foreign trips like tomorrow is his last day. We need you Pete to wake us all up because we have grown accustomed to our own low standards. We owe the next generation much much more than this. We owe them a New Malaysia. Mine is Lot 2906, Lorong Beringin, Kuang, so you pass me somewhat on the backway to Sg Buluh prison. Can that police van picked me up too along the way?

Not trying to be a hero here. But that is the only one thing i can do.

While we still got time i like to comment about 'What Is Islam?'. There are so much disputes about this not among others but the muslims themselves. I tried (as a convert of 28 yrs) to follow from one school of thought to the other. But alas most of them just want to bicker and leave the real fardhu kifayah of fighting injustice in the best of peaceful means. Thus is got this verse that i remember from the Quran:
"If they continue to bicker, then say 'Allah' and leave them be. Allah shall require of them in the hereafter, telling them what were actually in their hearts". (Don't ask me which verse, do yourself a favour and search for it)

Peace!

All right-thinking people everywhere, irrespective of race, colour, religion or creed are with you.

Take heart that if you are arrested and locked away under the ISA or Sedition Act or whatever Unconstitutional Laws of M'sia, we will fight to set you free.

Remember Emile Zola & J'accuse in 1898. We need people like you to stand as independent Guardians against the onslaught of dictatorial government.

There will always be a choice. People choose to become or remain a muslim, or they choose not to be or remain as one. A muslim (as opposed to a mukmin) chooses to abide by either all or some of God's commands, by choice. A mukmin, by virtue of being a human being, makes mistakes knowingly or otherwise, but never by choice as he/she is totally submissive to the commands of God. In wanting or not wanting to be a mukmin, there is a choice. Actually, this concept is universal, as Islam itself is. Any other faith, belief, doctrine preach the same values, the same beliefs. Always pure, always good, always sincere, never evil. It is the (set of) method and spiritual belief in submission that separates muslims from non-muslims. With this in mind, no true-believing muslim and non-muslim can ever fight with each other. How can one when one does not impose his belief and methods on another and the other does not encroach into one's way of life, nor act in hostility towards it.

RPK is one such man. He submits to the will of his God. He has set his mind on a choice and will never compromise. Why should he as he knows and believes that the choice he made would be the choice that God would be most pleased with. That is what he termed akidah, i prefer to call it iman ( hence, the word mukmin: a person with iman). His so- called fellow believers act on the instructions of leaders who compromise on their choices. The rules are clear, but the leaders choose to either ignore the rules or interpret them based on the convenience their choices offer.

We shall continue to pray for the well being of RPK, while being mindful that it has all been pre- ordained by God. The weakness that is us human beings is that we do not know what has been pre- ordained. So we are given the set of rules and we follow the rules. No compromises. Sadly, as RPK puts it, many muslims compromise on their choices.

Beautifully written. RPK, you are spot-on when you wrote

"Whether you are truly a Muslim at heart or just a ‘show’ Muslim would be subject to whether you really have faith or akidah. And akidah can never be in the rituals you perform. It has to be something that rests in your head and lies in your heart. Which means you have no control over akidah. Either you have it or you don’t. You can’t ‘perform’ akidah like you can your prayers, fasting, Haj, and so on."

May the Lord be with you today and gives you strength and courage to face the devils!

I would rather put it as UMNO's will, for if one were to say it is God's will, then UMNO has been instructed by Allah to arrest and detain RPK for a long time.

Nevertheless whatever it is, RPK can rest assured that M-T readers will not accept UMNO's will. More than a million M-T readers will take to the streets and dress in whatever colour(M-T's colours) every Saturday. And we will dress that way until RPK is freed. This will make cyber readers more determined to remove this UMNO Government at the next G.E.

YM RPK, all God's blessings and his protection.

You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.

RPK's 'awakening-the-minds-of-malaysians and learning-how-to-make-judgments' has been a more significant contribution to Malaysia that our TwinTower, Putrajaya achievments (maybe the 'elite' would disagree)put together.

This is what instills fear of our politicians and their colluders - our fellow Malaysian (of all races) are becoming informed, enlightened, seeking-options, demanding their rights.

You can bet the Umno members and their subservient sidekicks will act to ensure that Malaysians rakyat are denied the 'opening-of-minds' - they like 'mindless allegience' - serves their self-centeredness perfectly.

You may not see it in this generation but maybe the next generation or maybe the next next. If you see this person is so bad but living in luxury and comfort; don't be envious because when bad things come to him or his off spring it will be too late for him!

But if they don’t have akidah then they are not Muslims.

I just want to correct something YM RPK. Yes, a lot of Muslims think that Islam is all about rituals, so they have no akidah. I have the feel that Islam in your belief, is more akidah than rituals.

Well the answer is BOTH. I repeat, BOTH. There's no way one can be a Muslim with enough rituals but no akidah, there's also no way one can be GOOD Muslim with akidah but no rituals. Rituals is more about the relation between you and God, akidah is more about the relation between you and other people. To please God, He wants you to be good in both relations, not only one, but BOTH, it's compulsory.

Without rituals, God will call you 'non-Muslim'(kafir). Without akidah, you are still a Muslim but God will call you 'bad Muslim'(kufur). So you can't say people without akidah are not Muslims, they are still Muslim, but bad Muslims. That's why the phrase I quoted above should be corrected.

Peace.

YM Raja

You simply wanted to bring to justice - not in the fashion of the kangaroo court – those responsible for the murder of Alantuya – a daughter and a mother.

You did not say that person A, B or N need to be charged. Of course, you had to point out the circumstances of the murder of this helpless lady and certainly you have the right to comment on the information that has emerged to-date. Certainly no one can say that you manufactured that information. And of course, intelligent people do ask questions about the close association of the accused to people who walk the corridors of power. This is the role of the true journalist.

After all, one of the accused in the case is a prominent arms dealer for the Ministry of Defense and political advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister, and the other two accused provide security for the Deputy Prime Minister. Information that has come out of the case also indicates that one of the accused may have been involved in ‘disposing’ of other people. Many questions have also arisen in the media about the astronomical amounts of commission or fees received by the arms dealer. The Rakyat have all the right to know if their Deputy Prime Minister, who has been nominated to become the Prime Minister not too distant in the future, is any way implicated in the sorry episode.

Are the Rakyat of this country to believe the Attorney General’s statement that only three people were involved in the murder even before the court proceedings had commenced? Has the Attorney General obtained any written confession from the three accused or other proof for making, what by all counts, is a most unprofessional statement? The accused are nowhere near to admitting guilt. What happens when the accused are asked to make their defense and when in a corner start spilling the beans and divulge the names of other potential accomplices.

Besides, the change of the Judge in the case and the change of the prosecution team at the last moment for some spurious reasons does not give the appearance and confidence to the ordinary citizens that justice is indeed being administered properly without fear or favour.

YM Raja, you simply cannot be accused of ‘sedition’ for voicing the deep concerns in the minds of the citizens of this beloved country who not only want justice done to the poor victim and her family, but also ensure that the dignity of our beloved country in the international arena is not further besmirched.

Many Malaysian citizens clearly empathized with the recent outpourings of the victim’s father with a deep sense of helplessness. Certainly your objective journalism is a reflection of the concerns of millions of Malaysians who had no way of giving voice to their pent-up feelings. If you were charged with ‘sedition’, then many Malaysians would have to surrender themselves to the same charge for thinking in the same way you did.

May the very god that you and I submit to help us and show us the way! We will pray for god to give you and your family all the fortitude to face the adversaries. You can rest assured that “Makkal Shakti” will be out there to support you.

The verdict is already there without the high court’s ruling. It has been there long. That's why PAS leaders didn't object the use of Allah by other religions. Be it monastries, churshes, synagogues and mosques.
I have just finished reading verse 40 surah al-hajj from the Holy Quran. Looking for the verse that enlights the usage of Allah by other than muslims.
Verse 40:
(They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right, - (for no cause) except that they say, Our Lord is Allah," Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monastries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundance measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid (his cause) ; - for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce his will)

Verse 41 :
(They are) those who, if We established them in the land, establish regular prayer, and give regular charity, enjoin the right and forbid wrong : with Allah rests the end (and decision) of (all) affairs”

Allahu Akbar

Since you have given your birthdate and birthtime I thought I do your astro-charts. From my own personal experiences I have known vedic astrology to be quite accurate. Not 100% but enough times to convince me that there is "something" behind all these planetary influences. Here was what came up from the astrological software I used (Janma Kundali).

Saturn Dasha (19:03:2008 To 16:05:200smilies/cool.gif
This is not a favorable situation, and you may not be fortunate when the Mudda-Vimshottari Dasha-period of Saturn operates. You may have a very disturbing period, face many obstacles and impediments, and your progress in almost all affairs in general might be retarded. You may meet with failure, and remain in fear for not being able to fulfill your commitments. Certain circumstantial undesired developments might also make you quite tense and worried.

Mercury Dasha (16:05:2008 To 07:07:200smilies/cool.gif

The indications are not sufficient to warrant any specific conclusion.

Ketu Dasha (07:07:2008 To 28:07:200smilies/cool.gif

You may have a very disturbing period, and face many obstacles and impediments. You may get into conflict with your superior or the authorities, and run the risk of becoming a victim of their wrath. You may suffer from windy complaints and heaviness in your hands and/ or feet. Your enemies might create troubles for you, and some hooligans can cause you losses. Besides, you may become unhappy owing to disputes among your family-members.

... and after a few more period of worries, disagreements and quarrel this came up ....

Mars Dasha (28:10:2008 To 18:11:200smilies/cool.gif

In your Varshaphala chart, Mars is situated in an upachaya house (3rd or 6th or 11th) from the Varsha-Ascendant. This is a favorable combination, and you will be fortunate when the Mudda-Vimshottari Dasha-period of Mars operates. You will bold, courageous, energetic, and enthusiastic. Your enemies will be totally subdued, and you will be successful in all your endeavors; you may come out in flying colors in a competition or competitive examination, and gain recognition for your merits/ talents. You may secure good advancement in your field of profession, and your earnings might be considerably increased.

----- End ---

Of concern is your health. Some form of qigong exercise and meridian stretching exercises will help you maintain your good health if you ever get incarcerated.

In a few month time you will subdue all your enemies. Something all of us look forward to.

The easiest thing to do is to call it God will but to me no one is above the law, maybe due to the overwhelming praises RPK been getting for so long that made him think he is untouchable and forgot that even the King and Sultan immunity has been removed. So Pete the only thing I’ve to say to you is that “Berani Buat Berani tanngung” and “Baling batu sembunyi tangan” doesn’t work any more as we have to be accountable to what we do and say/write. Freedom of speech come with responsibility therefore don’t whined, be a man, accept responsibility and faced whatever is coming to you, well if you can substantiate all the allegation that you’ve made, you got nothing to worry isn’t it. Not to accept the will of God could also be a will of God and part of the grand plan of God. So fight and not give up easily. By you accepting as "will of God" will only make you weak and the perpetrators of evil stronger.

God says do your dharma (duty) and leave the fruit of that dharma to god. Your dharma is to fight the evil elements in this country.

You as an individual had made the greatest contribution through Malaysia Today in changing the fate of this country recently.

Ghandi did not accept it as will of God when he was thrown into the jail on many occassions. He would have shrunk and died in the jail had he accepted his jailling as a will of God. He preceived the injustice and cruelty done on him and on his people by the British was indeed against the will of God and thus the jailling only made him stronger and more determine to get the British out of India.

YM RPK,

I pray that no harm comes to you while you are questioned, detained or imprisoned.

For the powers that be to respond with a sledgehammer Ba-ath party stylee indicates that some warlords higher up are so scared of their monopoly of power threatened from someone who is only commenting on court proceedings openly published in a tainted mainstream media. They should bring the tanks out then, and machine gun the thousands if not millions of us who dissent to free ranging evil. No sane Malaysian would want to be led by a government that shelters murderers, period.

I can only offer my prayers, and some donation towards your bail and lawyers' fees if the towering legal personalities are not already offering you their services pro bono. As a Muslim I feel quite small compared to you, and it hurts to be so helpless.

May Allah protect you, who is no less than a true brother in faith. Some of us may cower in fear, many others will be emboldened to seek justice. To the murderers of Altantuya, may Allah lengthen the time before you are sent to hell, so that you may arrogantly squander the chance at admission and repentance, and accumulate more of God's displeasure.

Allow me to dedicate this poem by Lord Alfred Tennyson "The Charge Of The Light Brigade" to Pete for his undying devotion towards uncovering the truth and the courage he bears in facing his moment of trials (and tribulations) ....

Half a league, half a league
Half a league onward
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred

"Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred

"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply
Theirs not to reason why
Theirs but to do and die
In the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred

Cannon to right of them
Cannon to left of them
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd
Storm'd at with shot and shell
Boldly the rode and well
Into the jaws of Death
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred

Flash'd all their sabres bare
Flash'd as they turn'd in air
Sabring the gunners there
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre-stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd
Then they rode back, but not,
Not the six hundred

“fardu kifayah is not about rituals. It is about doing your duty to the community. And one of the most important tasks a Muslim must perform for his community is to oppose all forms of evil or kemunkaran”.

We will fail to prosper the future of young Malaysians if we do not leave behind our puritanical culture war and unify to correct the real problems facing the nation. More morality and more religion (which do not ensue from the heart) will not fix the issue of oversight, true justice, or poor ethics in business and government projects.

There are those who proclaim influence of religion fused with government, yet promote a free market with an absence of oversight, over relying on ignorant misconceptions of ideology, theology and sociology - they fail in their political agenda because there is overwhelming disenfranchisement and general distrust of government and related institutions such as the Police and the Judiciary.

There is lack of doing “your duty to the community”. Prayer to some sectarians does not directly need to restrain the individual from “evil or kemunkaran”. There is abundance of blind ignorance and a romanticism for an ideological concept that is flawed with a focus on the “Self” (eg. Religious bigotry) instead of “Community”, that is, spirit of ‘fardu kifayah’ in pursuit of peace for all mankind.

"What indeed is Islam?"

If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost.

Surely this Islam is your religion, one religion (only), and I am your Lord, therefore serve Me.

It is He Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth(Islam), to proclaim it over all religion: and enough is Allah for a Witness.

Hope you are enlightened my friend.

Dear Chillipepper & Mahkota

Thank you for your responses.
Of course Islam does not condone injustice, corruption, shame, dishonour
No religion ever do.
But the way many practitioners behave, they are a shame to their religion.
The message of God has always been true and pure.
But some messengers taint the message.
Thus, we must shoot the messengers, not the message.
(As opposed to the dictum "Do Not Shoot the Messenger")

To all Malaysians,

Do not feel sorry for RPK. Instead:
Feel proud for his stand,
Feel honored to be one of his tribe.
Feel brave to be with a just and fair cause.
Feel humble at his Sincerity
Feel enlightened by his sharp observations and commentaries

For his Enermies,
Feel sorry for their arrogance
Feel unclean to be near or associated with their corrupted practices.
Feel aloft to their unsavory behaviors.
Feel embarrassed by their presents.
Feel sick at their morality

Most of all, feel for the future of a truly Malaysian Malaysia,
FIGHT Corruption, Injustice, Immorality, ISA and UMNO.

.The actions of the present government in abusing and misusing its powers and authority only goes to show its incompetence and stupidity.

The only law in this country is the law where Might is Right.
Where the Strong and Wealthy abuse and discriminate the weak and poor.

The five states that are governed by PKR must all stand together and condemn this actions by the police and Home ministry.

The excuses of ” we are following Orders” is no difference than the Nazis and Germans who followed Hitler orders..

Stupid police, go and catch criminals and corrupters of humanity, not RPK..

Of course! To shut-up and silence the truth is more important to them then preventing crimes and corruptions. What a bunch of cowards and hypocrites who disguise as Muslims.

RPK is a role model that must be copied and emulated all over this country as how a Malaysian must stand for freedom, peace, justice and security.

RPK, God’s Promises are real and in-escapable.

All our prayers are for your family and especially for you.
God Speed and Protects you always.
May Allah be with you always
May God’s Curses be upon all those who schemed and corrupted this land and its people.
May they suffer the painful punishments that awaits them in Hell
Salam

Blackgiring commented: "...RPK do you think god give a damn whether you are muslim or not or whatever you put in your head about god? the truth is, it is all about a way of life that you choose that's all...it is nothing to do with god willed!!!"

There is a qualifier for All good Jews, Christians, etc will go to heaven, and not only the people of the Book but all good people of all races will go to heaven. If they can live a good life, obey all the commandments, they will live (see Rom 2:6-smilies/cool.gif. When asked what must he do to gain eternal life by the Rich Young Ruler, Jesus said the same thing: "If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." Matt 19:17

(I make no apologies for plagiarizing thoughts expressed in religious forums because I am no theologian or guru). When Jesus says, “why do you ask me about what is good? There is only One who is good,” He is driving the point home right away that no one even approaches God’s holy standards.

Does this mean that none is good? His point here was to get the Rich man to see his own failure. Then He tells him “If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

If you can keep the commandments perfectly then you will gain salvation. The object of these words is to expose the pride of man’s heart, and to reveal his absolute need of a Grace from God due to the impossibility of keeping the law. Jesus is showing unregenerate man that if he is to recover himself in this way he must perfectly keep the commandments without stumbling.

The Rich man obviously didn’t get it for he answered? Which ones? Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.' "

Jesus’ disciples understood the above discourse as “none can be saved” and the way to heaven is blocked for all men. Man’s spiritual condition before God is utterly bankrupt.
There is no hope for a man to do anything that will win him acceptance with God. We are in God's debt; He is not in ours.

But that which is impossible with man - salvation, is possible with God. We can contribute nothing and deserve God's wrath just like the next guy unless God bestows His mercy and grace upon us.

Obey the commandments and you will gain salvation? The difficulty arises however, in that there is no one who fits that description. This little passage ( from Matt 19:16-26 The Rich Young Man) demonstrates the folly of any person who thinks they can reach God through obedience to His commandments, since our fallen condition leaves us spiritually impotent.

All people are sinners saved by God’s grace and will.

Quran chapter 16: 128 [Truly, Allah is with those who fear Him (keep their duty unto Him), and those who are Muhsinun (good-doers). ]

Quran chapter 35: 45 [If Allah were to punish men according to what they deserve, He would not leave on the back of the (earth) a single living creature. ]

Al-Bukhari, Vol. 8, Hadith No. 122: [“The deeds of anyone of you will not save you.” They said, “Even you (will not be saved by your deeds), O Allah’s Messenger?” He said, “No, even I (will not be saved) unless and until Allah bestow His Mercy on me and protects me with His Grace. Therefore, do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and worship Allah in forenoon and in the morning and during a part of the night, and always adopt a middle, moderate, regular course whereby you will reach your target (Paradise).” ]

Therefore, the question from the world should not be how could a just God send anyone to hell; it should be how can a just God send anyone to heaven and remain just?

Those who believe that if we live a relatively good life can win God’s acceptance or approval have a god that is too small; a god that is not perfectly just and a god that is not holy. In other words, it is a sad excuse for a god: A man-made god.

But God owes no man anything. He is no man’s debtor. Anyone who says that God should reward those who are good is actually saying that God owes him. His decent, moral life has placed God in his debt. Furthermore, those who believe that God won’t judge sin are pinning their hopes on an unjust god.

All people should always keep in mind in every situation that but for the grace of God we would be lost. There is nothing to boast of in ourselves or our good works.

All trust in our merit, flesh or abilities will fail. So will a good person go to heaven, the answer is the same one Jesus gave. Yes he would - obey the commandments and you will live, but there is no one who is good but God alone. This devastates any hope of heaven through self effort, hence “god-willed”.

Pig farms bloom in Muslim Morocco

Shunned by most Muslim countries where pork consumption is a religious taboo, pig farming is booming in Morocco thanks to a growing tourist industry and pragmatic breeders.

"If there's tourism, it would be better to have pigs," said Said Samouk, 39, who raises 250 porkers at his farm 28 kilometres (17 miles) from the seaside town of Agadir.

After being battered by a wave of bird flu, he launched a pig operation 20 years ago in partnership with an elderly Frenchman.

Today, Samouk spins dreams of doubling his production within three years to help meet the demands of some 10 million tourists expected to visit Morocco in 2010 - up from 7.5 million who flocked to the north African country in 2007.

"I'm a practising Muslim. I don't eat pork and I don't drink alcohol but it's just a breeding operation like any other and no imam has ever reprimanded me for it," he said of raising pigs -- whose consumption is prohibited in both Islam and Judaism.

Outlawed in Algeria, Mauritania and Libya, pig farming is nonetheless authorised in Tunisia as in Morocco, to cater to the flocks of European and other non-Muslim tourists who head to north Africa's spectacular beaches and deserts.

"Our clientele is 98 percent European. They want bacon for breakfast, ham for lunch and pork chops for dinner," said Ahmad Bartoul, a buyer for a large Agadir hotel. Signs are posted on buffet tables to avoid any confusion about the meat's origin.

Morocco's swine industry comprises some 5,000 pigs raised on seven farms located near Agadir, Casablanca and the north-central city of Taza. The breeders include a Christian, two Jews and four Muslims.

Annual production is currently estimated at 270 tonnes of meat, bringing in some 12 million dirhams (1.6 million dollars) in revenue.

The breeders include Jean Yves Yoel Chriquia, a 32-year-old Jew who owns the country's main pork processing factory along with a farm of 1000 pigs. Chriquia also buys pigs from Samouk and another local farmer at 22 dirhams a kilo.

Four times a month, he goes to the slaughter house in Agadir -- but must enter from a door other than that used for deliveries of meat that is halal, or authorised under Islam.

"We have a special place for this sort of slaughter. After cutting up the meat and getting the veterinarian's stamp, we transport it to the factory and put it in cold storage," Yoel said.

Almost 80 percent of his products are earmarked for hotels in Agadir and Marrakech. The rest he*** to supermarkets and butchers -- and to feed some 220 Chinese workers building a nearby motorway.

"My wife was certain we would never find pork because we were in a Muslim country," said French retiree Bernard Samoyeau, as he ordered pork at a butcher in Agadir. "We have been pleasantly surprised."

Yoel is also pleased.

"We have more than doubled our sales in three years and it's starting to snowball. But since we rely on tourism, we must be careful," he said.

The Moroccan farmer speaks from experience: the 1990 Gulf war, the 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, and the 2003 invasion of Iraq ultimately forced him to shutter his last business burdened by 2.8 million dirhams of unpaid bills.

Three years ago, he opened up a new company that employs 31 people.

"Hotels all over Morocco are calling me up for deliveries, but for the time being I can't respond to all the demands. We're getting there, little by little," Yoel said.

Nor does he see a conflict between his job and his Jewish faith.

"Religion is a private matter. What I do is just another way to earn a living and my rabbi has never said anything about it," he said.
