(Bernama) PETALING JAYA, April 12 -- Feeling comfortable and arrogance by some Umno leaders after Barisan Nasional's (BN) resounding victory in the 2004 general election sent the wrong message to the other races

These were among reasons for the BN to lose votes to the Opposition in last month's general election, according to Umno information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib.

"Knowingly or unknowingly, some of the decisions made by Umno leaders had hurt the feelings of other races, especially the Chinese and Indians, in Peninsular Malaysia.

"Some of our Umno leaders, whenever they speak, focus only on issues pertaining to the Malays, tenders for the Malays and brandishing the kris (Malay dagger). When the other races see this, they get scared.

"To them, we appear as arrogant," he said when speaking at an information and dialogue session with Petaling Jaya Selatan Umno division members here last night.

Muhammad said when a sensitive issue was politicised, it created uneasiness in inter-racial relations, making other races to easily sway to the Opposition, which is seen to be more liberal in their inter-racial relations despite having a vague agenda.

"The situation is compounded when the Malays themselves did not lend their full support to the BN, particularly in Malay-majority seats," said the Rural and Regional Development Minister.

He said Umno leaders must re-examine their political approach and be more sensitive to issues which could create racial tension.

"Although Malaysia can be regarded as a Malay-majority nation, Umno leaders had no right to talk and act according to their whims and fancy, without taking the feelings and interests of the other races into consideration," added Muhammad, who is also Selangor Umno and BN chief.

While this is said, I was alerted of another event happened which implying that Malay's unity tie to the support to BN.

I don't know how to translate but I was told that a Kelatan prince said in a conference that Non-Malays must not ask for equality because they have been given citizenship.

Well, this sounded no different that the Krismudin talking about "ketuanan."

At least this fellow has openly admitted and pointed to one source of their own downfall. Ahhhhh a little bit belated, but some light finally shone thru one thick skull. Now let us see some positive follow up from you. Now name them openly thru you own mouth, and tell them one by one to apologize and repent before the rakyat.

We just want to see how sincere you are about what you say. If they don't apologize, at least we know you tried your best. This may give us some satisfaction, not that it will do much good to repair the damage. That will depend on how the federal government now treat the PR state government, and how you take down the crooks in UMNO and put them in jail. Then UMNO might be saved, but after that UMNO will have nobody in its ranks.

What a dilemma.

The other Races get scared, my foot! We were not scared, we were very upset and angry.

How about declaring your assets as well as your family's on the net. Including alimony and assets overseas. That's the only way UMNO members can clear themselves of arrogance. Justify your assets. Answer all queries. Talking about arrogance alone won't do. Return illicit wealth, kickbacks, shares of profits, properties received for favours, etc. That's the only treatment for arrogance. Otherwise, by confession alone all of you will not be forgiven.

Maybe you are right Mt Taib but than again BN still dancing around issues that concern rakyat the most. That is help the poor and that include all race. Improve security, better control of consumer goods, fair education and business opportunities. Increase 50 cents per kilo in flour but increase of 20 cents a bowl of noodles. I call this robbery and goverment call it sign of prosperity.
