Govt Allocates RM5.8 Billion For Staff Quarters In Putrajaya PDF Print E-mail

(Bernama) PUTRAJAYA, April 8 -- The government has allocated RM5.8 bilion to build more than 23,000 units of staff quarters for civil servants working in the federal government's administrative capital here.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan said the quarters would be ready by 2010 and placed under the jurisdiction of the property management division (BPH) of the Prime Minister's Department.

"So far, 11,213 units, costing about RM3.7 billion, are ready and most have been occupied. Another 12,073 units are scheduled for completion by 2010," he said at a meeting with community leaders at the Putrajaya Quarters here Monday.

At the function, he also launched the BPH Strategic Plan for 2008-2010 to improve the quality of life of residents at its quarters in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, the KL International Airport, Nilai in Negeri Sembilan, Tanjung Kupang in Johor and Labuan.

Mohd Sidek said BPH spent RM4.7 million on maintenance of its quarters last year.

He called on the residents to help reduce the cost.

On a circular which revokes the eligibility of civil servants from occupying government quarters if they owned houses within 25km radius from their workplace, Mohd Sidek said they could continue to stay at government quarters if they were willing to pay twice the fee.

The circular took effect on April 1.

"The higher fee should not be an issue considering that facilities like schools, community centres, recreation centres and so on are provided in the area," he added.

Very funny ?

Was this allocation of RM5.8 bilion to build more than 23,000 units of staff quarters for civil servants , tabled in the last Parliament sitting?

Article 99, budget tabled before HRH YDPA did not disclose such items for
expenditures.

Can all 82 BR MPs verified supply bills 2006 & bills 2007 under Article 100.

Syabas. Barisan Rakyat.

Can I or anyone else say 'No' to this plan?

Instead can we build more schools? Invite top class professors from UK, USA, EU to teach in our universities (no middle eastern professors)? Allocate some of the money for Penang, Perak, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan?

Can we sell Putra Jaya to the highest bidder from anywhere - some billionaire who wants to have his own mini-state, how about Al Fayed? The proceeds of the sale could be used to rebuild Malaysia, since all the BN politicians are clean and did not steal any money but merely lost the rakyat's money due to incompetency.

Ok or not? Seems reasonable to me.

BN's tagline. "Now every civil servant can live like a king".

RM3.5bil for staff quarters enjoyed by the few but yet cant build a bridge which the entire Penang folks can enjoy and ease traffic congestions for inbound visitors.

Looks like they will continue to plunder the nation's coffer as much as they could b4 PR takes over. SMART ARSE!

How to stop oaying taxes.. it's automatically deducted off us wage earners monthly. But personal taxes only contributes to a small % of Malaysia's income. Can this extravagance be challenge. Yes, at parliment. The opposition must raise & question such expenditure and demand transparency. Over 300K per unit. The land does not costs that much in PJ. SO PJC makes money, but most of it will go to the MP of PJ. My guess... over 50% will be pocketed by cronies and AB gang.

Remember Najib's call for the rakyat to readjust our lifestyles because the govt can no longer continue subsidising? Looks like they don't practice what they preach.

RM5.8 billion is RM5,800,000,000.00 ! Along the way, if 0.01% is 'lost' and unaccounted for,.... aiyah, it's 1/100th of a percent only mah .... that's RM580,000 or more than half a million ringgit! What if 0.1% leh? Don't bother to go into 1% ... ok? That would be almost enough to 'buy over' Sivakumar of DAP.

Somehow, with all of AAB's projects being in BILLIONS, I can't help thinking that it is so easy to 'round up' to the nearest one-hundredth or one-thousandth of a percent somewhere, and no one will be the wiser, except for the person who rounded it. Sigh, if I can only get a couple of one-thousandth of a percent (that's 4 zeros after the decimal, I think) of this staff quarters project's money. smilies/sad.gif

Sabah has the most number or hardcore ppl. Approximately 250k ppl in Sabah are without proper house. This BN goons has the audacity to spend RM5.8bil for 25000 quaters! rm330000 for each quaters! this is not even a house!
200000 hardcores poor in sabah can be given a dignity by giving them a decent house which only cost rm25000 each.
Dear my Sabahan bro. and sis. This BN government is not sincere and not serious about the welfare of our poor brethren in Sabah. BN government loves the status quo or the deterioration of Sabah so that come General Election, BN will 'tabur duit' and this poor people will be easily conned to vote for them.
Pakatan Rakyat will make sure that this will not happen to Sabahan. enough is enough. Let us all vote BN out of Sabah and replace them with Pakatan Rakyat which have strong political will in providing fairness in all aspect of the rakyat's welfare.

Whilst this grandeur plan is on, please also look at some small conveniences for the general public.
1. Being in the middle of the MSM, can the traffic lights be synchronized and made into one that is traffic demand sensitive? At present vehicles have to wait a long time for lights to change, though there are not many vehicles on the ro***. This le*** to motorists beating the lights after waiting for a long time. Dont talk about motocyclists, for they do not wait for anything. No helmets, riding on the wrong side of the road and traffic rules, what rules for them.

2. How about some decent road signs? I can bet any amount of money that anyone visiting Putrajaya for the first time will not be able to find the direction to the ERL station there. Even if you arrive at the station by chance whilst being lost, you still would not know that the ERL station is there. Dont believe me, try yourself. All this happens because the contract must have been given to contractors who dont drive or cannot read signs.

11,213 units, costing about RM3.7 billion.

That 3,700,000,000.00 divide by 11,213.

the title of the article should be:
"23,000 bungalows built as staff quarters in Putrajaya!"

furthermore, it's just palm oil plantation land that they are building on!
as for other infrastructure, I bet they have already been paid for.. probably at a rate of 5x cost of actually building them!

why are we even paying taxes?!?!?!
