ALOR STAR (Bernama): Mahkamah Tinggi di sini memerintahkan pemilik blog Malaysia Today, Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin bersama pengarang akhbar itu membayar gantirugi berjumlah RM7 juta kepada Naib Canselor Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Tan Sri Dr Nordin Kardi dan UUM.

Penghakiman mahkamah itu dikeluarkan oleh Timbalan Pendaftar Mahkamah Tinggi, Priscilla Gendagaran pagi Rabu setelah kesemua defendan gagal menghadirkan diri atau membawa peguambela ke mahkamah.

Dr Nordin dan UUM mengambil tindakan undang-undang terhadap Raja Petra dan pengarang akhbar terbabit pada Februari tahun lepas setelah akhbar "Suara Keadilan" dan laman blog Malaysia Today menerbitkan satu artikel yang bertajuk "NC UUM PENCIPLAK" pada Disember 2006 dan Januari 2007.

Peguam Dr Nordin dan UUM, Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz berkata artikel itu mempunyai unsur fitnah dan menjatuhkan kredibiliti Dr Nordin sebagai seorang Naib Canselor serta telah menjejaskan nama baik universiti itu.

Artikel itu mendakwa Dr Nordin kononnya telah menciplak satu tulisan bekas presiden Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar Muhtar Suhaili yang bertajuk "Mahasiswa dan Tanggungjawab Mengurus Kejayaan".

Dr Nordin menafikan dakwaan kononnya beliau menulis rencana itu dan meminta Raja Petra serta pengarang akhbar terbabit untuk memohon maaf kepada beliau dan UUM.

Mohd Khairul berkata setelah Raja Petra dan pengarang akhbar itu tidak mahu memohon maaf, Dr Nordin dan UUM terus mengambil tindakan sivil mengikut Akta Fitnah 1957.

Mohd Khairul berkata defenden tidak membela diri di mahkamah dan penghakiman pagi ini memerintahkan Raja Petra membayar gantirugi am sebanyak RM2 juta kepada Dr Nordin dan RM2 juta lagi kepada UUM.

Selain itu, ketua pengarang akhbar Suara Keadilan dikenakan hukuman membayar gantirugi am sebanyak RM1 juta kepada Dr Nordin dan sebanyak RM500,000 lagi kepada UUM.

Editor akhbar itu pula diperintahkan membayar gantirugi am berjumlah RM1 juta kepada Dr Nordin dan RM500,000 kepada UUM.

Dr Nordin dan UUM juga mengemukakan saman yang sama terhadap Parti Keadilan Rakyat Malaysia (PKR) sebagai penerbit akhbar Suara Keadilan dan perbicaraan kes itu akan diteruskan di Mahkamah Tinggi Alor Star.

Mohd Khairul berkata kegagalan defenden membayar gantirugi itu membolehkan tindakan perintah muflis dan menyita semua harta diambil oleh mahkamah.

Bercakap kepada pemberita, Dr Nordin berkata tindakan beliau adalah sebagai pencetus kepada orang ramai termasuk golongan ahli politik atau artis untuk mengambil tindakan undang-undang terhadap pihak yang menyalahgunakan laman blog.

Katanya mereka yang sewenang-wenangnya melemparkan fitnah kepada orang dalam laman blog masing-masing kini harus mengambil pengajaran bahawa mereka tidak terlepas daripada tindakan undang-undang.

"Saya tahu mungkin saya tidak mendapat wang itu kerana mereka tidak mampu membayarnya tetapi saya puas kerana kes ini membuktikan terdapat ruang untuk mengambil tindakan sivil terhadap pemilik laman blog yang melemparkan fitnah," kata beliau.

Dr Nordin berkata jumlah saman itu sebenarnya masih tidak setimpal dengan perbuatan menjatuhkan imej sebuah institusi pengajian tinggi dan jika defenden membayar gantirugi kepada beliau, wang berkenaan akan digunakan untuk kepentingan universiti. - KLPOS.COM

Raja Petra wrote an article saying that NC UUM is plagiarising an article from someone else.

This NC UUM posted his plagiarized article in islamhadiri.com .... and then a complain was filed to islamhadiri.com so islamhadiri.com remove that article.

And now Raja Petra is sued by NC UUM for claiming that he plagiarised?

Where does Suara Keadilan fit the picture?

Kredibiliti apa yg dia ada? VC ke, TNC ke kat Malaysia ni memang proksi umno. Mereka bukan dipilih berdasarkan merit; kalau mereka dapat buktikan yg mereka boleh jalankan kerja2 kotor umno, nama merekalah yg naik...tak percaya pergi siasat semua IPTA. So what credibility are you talking about??

Anyway, the way RTM, TV3 & MSM discredit, humiliate their opponents go beyond than what RPK/MT did. Buat tak tau je, RPK. We are behind you all the way. Teach them a lesson too... they cannot simply do what they like.

A judgment in default for not attending court? RPK & Keadilan can still appeal. It’s a small matter especially in such a case that had been decided in chamber by an Assistant Registrar.
