Lim Kit Siang: No Such Thing As Barisan Rakyat PDF Print E-mail
Posted by Raja Petra

Jed Yoong

DAP icon and national leader Lim Kit Siang confirmed today that there is no co-operation among PAS, PKR and DAP under an umbrella body called the Barisan Rakyat.

“There is no such thing as Barisan Rakyat. DAP has no general election co-operation with PAS,” he said in a text message.

Commenting on a photograph of him with a PAS flag published in The Star today, he said: “I was suprised myself. PAS is contesting the Tenang state seat inside Labis (parliamentary seat).”

According to Raja Petra Kamarudin, who edits top political website Malaysia Today, Barisan Rakyat is an initiative “by the civil society movements and bloggers after the 6 political parties endorsed the People’s Declaration“.

The DAP candidate for Labis in Johor is Teo Eng Ching, 32. She will be running against disgraced former Health Minister and Labis MP Chua Soi Lek’s son, Chua Tee Yong, 31. Soi Lek resigned in January after DVDs of him having extra-marital sex were distributed in Johor. More here.

BN is using scare tactic to misled chinese voters.

Last call for those undecided voters on who you shall vote in this Saturday.
To Malay Bumis:

- Only Malay themselves can topple a government and no other race can be PM without the support of Malays.

- If you vote opposition front, either an "anak Melayu" Anwar Ibrahim or another Malay leader from PAS will become a new PM. But this scenario is unlikely to happen soon with the present unfair Malaysian election system.

- If you vote BN meaning you have chosen a corrupted BN government like Indonesian Suharto regime. Don't crying when you and your grandchildren look back 30 years later on rampant corruption in the government and poor managed economy.

To Non-Malay Bumis:

- To prevent your religious right being eroded is say NO to BN.

- To prevent your native land and jobs being taken away by foreign illegal immigrants is say NO to BN.

To Chinese:

- You have chosen a monster-like UMNO in 1999 who bit back on you immediately after election. Don't repeat the same mistake in 2008.

- Don't be ill-treated and threaten continually by UMNO extremists for another 50 years.

- Don't be afraid of PAS Islamic state since UMNO's Islamic state is already proven more corrupted and unfair to non-Muslims.

- BN government is insulting non-bumi intelligence by distributing "petty goodies" before general election.

- If you vote BN, please don't complain on NEP, overcrowd Chinese school, body snatched away, rampant crime and corruption, etc.

To Indian:

- Since you have eaten chilli from BN for last 50 years, you shall know how spicy it was.

My friend who is a Polling agent but not MCA member said, they are already teaching how to cheat to the agents who will be bserving and if the contest is with DAP, the agent suppose to challenge and even bring the undi rosak as a undi for BN. They are also asked to bring pencils to scribble or mark (rosak or x) for BN to win. All polling agents be alert. There is polling agents training everyday.

If this is true, Kit Siang is undermining the Barisan Rakyat initiative.

Fear not, saudara Lim.
Voters like me who voted with BN in the past is changing side.
I am disgusted to the extend that I will cast my vote for PAS even if the candidate contests against MCA/Gerakan/MIC.

This, I believe, is the only way to release this nation from the hegemony and corruptive grasp of UMNO.

..Barisan Rakyat is an initiative “by the civil society movements and bloggers after the 6 political parties endorsed the People’s Declaration“.

The word 'Barisan Rakyat' not even copyrighted yet, is "so powerful".

It had confused 'UMNO-putras' BN MCA, Gerakan, MIC, PPP .

See their 'confusing & conflicting comments' by MCA candidates in the STAR.

Syabas.

DAP, PAS and PKR have the same objective of denying BN the 2/3 majority in the parliament. If the three parties are successful in getting the majority, a coalition government among the three parties, with conditions accepted to all might be arranged. Since DAP considers Malaysia secular state, and PAS has yet to confirm its acceptance on that issue, there is no Barisan Rakyat as a political party. It was a concept which are acceptable to all opposition parties.

Whether you call it Barisan Alternatif or Barisan Rakyat, it's still opposition. Calling a rose by any other name is still a rose. So what's the fuss that Lim is making? Why can't PKR & DAP work with PAS though they are of different religious ideologies & beliefs? Where's the tolerance that we should be proud of in this multi-ethnic country? Isn't this what the opposition should be? Multi-racial. Don't be like BN where parties are race-based. We don't want the opposition to be race-based and religious-based, or else it's gonna be back to square one.

So, Barisan Rakyat it is!!

Barisan Rakyat is a vision of the rakyat in the next election and it is too late for these party to come to an agreement. We have high hopes for you guys to at least ride on this platform and not give in to BN's tactics. In politic you give and take and you expect dirty tactics like this from BN.
So far these statements is okay because each of you are gathreing votes from your own are. After the election if you guys don't co-operate that will be the beginning of the end to your party. Malaysian is more and more into multi-racial party not segration by race and religion is not going to work. Get that into your thick skull.....

The wind of change is very great in Penang. When in 1969 the support is not as great as this time. The crowd has already passed the heavy rain test again.
Keep reinventing, keep voting DAP and opposition.
36 hours to go for the change.
Vote red, yellow and green but never never blue this time.

My sincere thanks to RPK and Haris for coming to Penang.

FAQs for 12th GE

Q1: What would happen IF no Chinese ministers in the cabinet?
A1: From past historical records saying that Chinese basic rights were eroded even with MCA ministers in the cabinet. MCA and Gerakan are toothless parties, they are no more relevant to the Chinese community. In the nutshell, with or without MCA/Gerakan ministers in the Cabinet make no different to Malaysian Chinese dilemma.

Q2: Why SPR withdrew indelible ink procedure in last minute?
A2: To let BN releases their phantom voters on 8 March 2008.

Q3: Why more personal attacks on Anwar Ibrahim in recent days?
Q3: BN is started worrying that Anwar may change the political landscape if urban Malays decide to revolt against UMNO. In addition, Chinese and Indian voters are very upset with Abdullah unfulfilled promises made in past GE besides other bread and butter issues.

BN cannot attack Anwar's popular poverty based-NEP, the next best option is launching a character assault against him.

Q4: Foreign investors want a 2/3 majority, but corrupted judiciary system and government?
A4: Indian government with slightly more than 50% seats in parliament does not drive away investors. Clean, effective and fair government is more important for foreign investors.

Barisan Nasional Is Insulting Agong

BN ads in TVs/internet have clearly insulting Yang Di-pertuan Agong by saying vote BN is equal to vote for Malaysia.

Malaysia is a nation owned by all "rakyats" regardless of their political affiliation under the Agong. No political party in Malaysia can claim they are representing Malaysia under whatever circumstances except the Agong and cabinet appointed by Agong.

BN is just a political party, they have no right to claim they are representing Malaysia. Malaysia is not a communist country like China with absolute power is given to communist party to rule China.

Vote a party like BN is not equal to vote for Malaysia. GE is not a voting for Agong, but a cabinet works for Agong and rakyats.

BN is challenging and insulting the legal status of Agong as a head of Malaysia.

At the official launching of the People's Declaration at Blog House on 16th February 2008, Ronnie Liu of DAP publicly stated that DAP endorsed the People's Declaration. The Declaration was also endorsed by PAS, as stated by Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud at the same event. There was no conflict of ideology between the parties as far as the basis of rebuilding the nation was concerned.

At the same event, Haris Ibrahim introduced the attending political parties as our Barisan Rakyat representing the Harapan Rakyat. See the full video of the event here http://www.malaysiakini.tv/video/15486.html and the shorter version here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUIeKdEKq5Q and

At many ceramah, the speakers refer to Barisan Rakyat as a living entity, not someone's pipe dream. DAP leaders may, for political reasons, pretend that they have no arrangement of cooperation with PAS but, at the ground level, the cooperation is inspiring. You have to see it for yourself to believe it.

I have also noticed that some PKR and PAS leaders still speak of BA. I think they have to come to terms with the fact that BA is a dead duck. It died with the breakdown of the electoral pact way back then. I only hope their reference to BA is a habit thing. I also hope that Kit Siang's statement (if he indeed made the statement) is not an indication of a private agenda that will emerge after the elections dust settles.

Hidup Harapan Rakyat.

Hidup Barisan Rakyat.

People, don't worry ... It is true that Barisan Rakyat is a civil movement initiative, created by the Rakyat for the Rakyat

Lim Kit Siang, Anwar, Hadi can choose whether they wants to involve or not but one thing is for sure. It is their choices. I will not fret about it...

Barisan Rakyat represents the commoner Malaysians - Malays, Chinese, Indians aspirations for a strong check and balance for the citizens - to deny BN 2/3 Majority because BN is unable to correct itself now.

Therefore, I call all Malaysians - Malays, Chinese, Indians, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus etc. to work together and battle not ourselves but our ENEMY NO. 1 - CORRUPTION. Who is the one doing all the corruption? Think and battle it. I urge all Malaysians - Malays, Chinese, Indians not to succumb to divide-and-rule strategy. Don't blame races, don't blame religions.

Vote Barisan Rakyat to deny BN 2/3 Majority in Election 2008. Barisan Rakyat Bersatu. Malaysians - Malays, Chinese, Indians hold hands. Bangunlah wahai kawan-kawan. Berjuanglah demi negara dan bangsa. We are loyal to the country and not parties. DESTROY CORRUPTION AND THE PARTICULAR PARTY THAT DIVIDE US TO SUCK OUR MONEY.

BARISAN RAKYAT BERSATU ! BANGUN ! BANGUN ! BANGUN !

Correct! Correct! Correct!

Dear, Dear Uncle Lim,

What a "potong stim" statement is that. I remember few months ago, I have posted a comment telling the opposition that you are not an ALTERNATIVE. YOU ARE THE RAKYAT!!!!!!.... that time I have suggested names like.. Barisan Malaysia and Barisan Rakyat..and it appeared that Barisan Rakyat is more acceptable.

Please don't think that you are just an ALTERNATIVE because that will only potray the opposition as just another Barisan Najis clone. YOU ARE THE RAKYAT....REMEMBER!!!

Whatever it is, the Barisan Rakyat will have a special place in every citizen's heart no matter whether it is official or not, simply because WE WANT TO CHANGE!!!

Whether there are more or less Chinese or Indian representatives in the cabinet makes no difference at all. From past experience, the Chinese & Indian members in the cabinet are there only to make up the numbers. There were really no serious input from them. They are given seats to say "AYE" when required. We hardly hear any opinions from them.
We really need more opposition representatives in Parliament to stop them umnoputras from creating more scandals and shady deals.
